The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

In between coughing up my lungs today, I've been doing a little research on the Harry Potter theme park that will be opening in Orlando this spring. The Superbowl commercial piqued my interest in the park. This is a conglomeration of what I've learned so far.

Wow, this makes me wish I was a Harry Potter fan! XD (I've only seen two of the movies...I know. DON'T JUDGE ME.)
This looks really amazing.

If you read the books you'd probably be a bigger fan than if you saw the movies, since the books are a richer experience.

Having grown up in Florida about 2.5 hours away from Orlando, I've frequented this park a lot in the past. The roller coasters are more fun there than the Disney ones, but I always thought Disney did a better job of creating an immersive experience. However, the description of everything they're putting into the Wizarding World makes me feel like they are doing a really good job of pulling off creating a complete world.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the new Harry Potter section and will probably visit the park again. Dueling Dragons was my favorite roller coaster there and it is worth standing in the longer line to get a seat in the very front of either the fire or the ice dragon. It really does look like you're going to hit the other roller coaster "dragon" full of people at many points during the ride. Looks like next time I visit my parents in FL I'll be dragging them over to Universal. Thanks for the progress report!

I guess Disney has a bit of an advantage since they have created a more homogeneous brand. I imagine that it would be harder to thematically link properties as diverse as Popeye, Marvel superheroes, and Jurassic Park. I hope the Harry Potter world really takes off and expands. It'd be awesome if they had a really immersive Harry Potter "island".
