I had to walk a mile and a half in the snow tonight because my bus stopped running due to weather. It was about... zero degrees outside with windchill. Fuck you snow. Fuck you in your big stupid powdery face. There were points where I had to get up to running speed to make it through some of the snow drifts easily. I am so happy I got to leave ( Read more... )

I'm really glad you got home safe. I'm sorry I went emo over text, afterwards. I'm... mostly better now, and I'm /really/ glad that you're doing alright. Don't know what I'd do without a panda.

me too! It's ok, I'm good at dealing with that. Glad I didn't have to end up going to the hospital or anything.

I mean, it was pretty bad. I sat in a tub of hot water and it still took me about 2 hours to recover.

Okay, I can understand a bus in my area not being able to cope with snow. But Oregon presumably is more familiar with the white powdery stuff.

So the fact that your public transportation was shut down tells me this was not your everyday, garden-variety snowstorm.

Please pass along my thanks to 'dena for her wah-thawing preparations. I'm relieved that, once circulation was restored to them, your extremities recovered enough to start sending "Oh, btw, PAIN" memos again; sometimes an ouch is the world's most reassuring diagnostic.

We get snow once every other year or so. The busses are still running on major routes with detours, which means they don't really run to most of the city. The trains are frozen up, despite de-icing trains running as well.

And I'm supposed to close tommorow. Thanks boss.

Of course. I'm happy to not have suffered any sort of exposure damage. It got pretty bad out there.

We had 75 inches of snow so far this winter as of a week and a half ago, and two major storms since then plus the inevitable inch of lake effect per day, and I keep telling people that winter is slow death and there is NOTHING good about it whatsoever, but will they believe me? NooooooO! Walking in a Winter Wonderland Let it Snow my big fat Northern Barbarian BUTT!
