act ; onew/minho
“excuse me.”
jinki looked up from his book to see who had interrupted his precious reading time, a handsome young man who had a nervous and anxious expression sat in front of him, he placed his book down on the table. “yes?” jinki responded in a polite tone, not to let the other know he was slightly annoyed.
“can you pretend to be my boyfriend for five minutes?” jinki was taken aback with the question, the other male looked desperate, eyes pleading.
a part of jinki wanted to refuse but the expression he wore worried him a tad bit. as the kind jinki everybody knew him said, “yeah, sure.”
suddenly he started to feel nervous. what is going to happen? how is he suppose to act?
he watched the handsome young man sigh out in relief, he quickly shook jinki’s from across the table, “my name is minho by the way.”
minho, jinki noted.
“i’m jinki,” he offered a smile.
before they could manage to find out more information from each other a loud voice called out for minho.
“minho, is that you?!”
jinki watched minho flinch from the person’s loud voice, he made a sour face before turning around to see who called him out. even if jinki just met this minho guy he could tell he had a fake smile plastered on his face.
“jonghyun!” minho stood up to greet his friend or whoever he was to him. jinki couldn’t believe how much taller minho was he stood up, maybe a his heart did a little flip. hearts don’t flip, jinki, he told himself. impossible. he can’t fall for this minho guy just because he’s tall.
jinki remain seated, not knowing what to do, how was he suppose to act like minho’s boyfriend? what kind of guys does minho like? here comes the panicky questions again...
jonghyun also looks very handsome, jinki thought. he had a cocky smirk, eyes scanning minho up and down trying to pinpoint something to bug the taller.
next to jonghyun was a skinny boy with pretty features.
“have you guys met jinki yet?”
he took this as a cue to stand next to minho, he offered his classic smile to the other two strangers. minho placed his hand on jinki’s waist then pulled him closer. for the second time that day he was taken by surprise (and maybe jinki’s heart did another flip), he wasn’t exactly comfortable with public display of affection, especially with people he hardly knows. instead of reacting how he normally does, he did the same, he carefully placed his hand on minho’s waist and kept on grinning.
“hi, i’m jinki,” he held out his hand to shake jonghyun’s hand and his companion’s. “nice to meet you.”
jinki watched jonghyun’s shocked expression after his introduction, then it was quickly washed away before he introduced himself. “nice to meet you too. i’m jonghyun and this is taemin.”
the pretty boy beamed and said his greetings.
“so, are you two together?” jonghyun asked, his voice faltered.
“yeah,” minho replied, confident.
jonghyun raised his brow, “really, for how long?”
jinki looked up at minho, “hmm, three months now,” he met jinki’s gaze, they both smiled - acting in love.
“how did you two meet?” the shortest male kept pressing with the questions, making it seem like he didn’t believe one word the taller male said.
“in this cafe, i was waiting in line when i noticed jinki in front of me, it seemed like he forgot his wallet so i offered to pay for his drink, and from there we hit it off.” minho pressed his lips against jinki’s temple, he blushed a little.
jinki thought what minho said, he vaguely remembered a time when he forgot his wallet at home, a kind man paid for his order. he didn’t get a good glimpse at the person’s face, he was too embarrassed to look at the other male afterwards. he had no idea it was minho the whole entire time.
“sometimes he could be so clumsy,” minho added. jinki tried his best to ignore his rapid beating heart.
“we have to go now,” taemin started, noticing how stiff jonghyun became, he tugged on his arm.
jonghyun shook taemin off, ignoring what he said, “does he ever mention me?”
jinki pretended to think, “i don’t believe so,” he shook his head.
the shorter male eyes narrowed, “sometimes he refers me to jjong.”
jinki shook his head again.
“jonghyun, let’s go already,” taemin tugged on his arm, this time dragging him away. “it was really nice meeting you jinki,” he added, he offered another smile before leaving the cafe.
minho sighed out in relief, looking quite baffled.
jinki coughed.
minho hadn’t realised he was still holding onto jinki. he let go of jinki, they both sat down again, minho gave out a nervous laugh, “sorry about that. i mean, thanks.”
jinki crossed his arms and legs then gave the taller male what-was-that-about look.
“i really have to go now, i’m late for work,” he handed jinki what looked like a business card, he stood up, “i’ll explain it to you later. i gotta go now, honey.” minho smirked.
jinki couldn’t help but crack a smile at what he said as he watched minho leave the cafe. he examined the business card, “choi minho,” he read the fine print, “a lawyer.” he wouldn’t have guessed he was one, since he was wearing casual wear rather than a business suit.
on the back of the card was a note:
let’s go on a real date.
