Reunited At The Sideline

Chapter 6

At lunch, they went to a pizzeria and obviously had pizza for lunch. They were talking about work. Kisho only told them a few things about being a florist and what he does. He also told them that he is working as a cashier but did not tell them where he works at. It turns out that Faolan and Hadriel were both fashion models, which is quite obvious with their appearance and how they carry themselves. Faolan was on his way to becoming  a supermodel while Hadriel is constantly appearing in movies or music videos with a few lines to say and thought of becoming an actor. At the mention of becoming an actor, Kisho looked at Chrono and Chrono just shrugged.

“So Hirono, what job do you have? Care to share? You’ve been silent ever since.” Faolan asked as they all turned their attention towards Chrono/ Hirono. Kisho looked at him amusingly as he knew that Chrono was thinking up a story to lie…erm, tell.

“What can I say? It’s been a long time since I’ve ate pizza and I’m enjoying it. I can’t really talk if my mouth is full, now can I?” They laughed at Chrono’s answer. “I work in a noodle factory. I’ve been receiving free noodles and kept on eating noodles and I’m actually starting to hate noodles.” They laughed again at Chrono’s smooth lie and of course, only Kisho and Chrono knew that it was a lie. Chrono congratulated himself mentally.

“You’re actually a funny guy when you’re not being quiet.” Hadriel commented. And the rest of lunch went by smoothly until it was time to be separated again since they all still have work to do for the afternoon except for Chrono but Hadriel and Faolan don’t need to know that.

At night in Chrono’s house…

“What are we having for dinner?” Kisho asked as he sat on the couch and turned on the TV. Chrono went in the living room and placed two cups of instant noodles on the table before the couch. “I thought you were beginning to hate noodles.” Kisho chuckled.

“I’m sure you knew that I was acting.” Chrono laughed as well.

“You sure are a great actor! You were able to make up a story really fast. I’m your fan now. Can I have your autograph? What about a handshake? I‘m joining your fan club as soon as I can.” Kisho acted as if he were some crazy fan. This only earn more laughter from Chrono before they started to eat their dinner. “But you weren’t good at acting yesterday. I’m sure you were about to confess that you love me or at least getting attached to me.”

“Ow!” Chrono burnt his tongue. He knew what Kisho was talking about. It was their conversation while cleaning at the backyard yesterday.

“What if I say that I won’t stop hanging out with you even if you get attach or have feelings for me? Will you confess to me?” Kisho asked. He had a serious look on his face.

Chrono placed the cup of noodles back on the table and stared at it for a while as he thought of an answer. “Maybe.” He settled for that answer and turned to look at Kisho. “But if you won’t stop hanging out with me, then you would also be breaking your no strings attach rule that would confirm that you are getting attach to me as well.”

“Perhaps I am.” Kisho smirked. “But it would be a different kind of hanging out and we’ll probably be spending more time with Hadriel and Faolan.”

And from that moment, Chrono knew that he’s a part of three rivals once again.

Tuesday morning. Kisho woke up alone in his bed and sighed. It was just recently that he and Chrono got back in good terms/ sleeping in bed together  but now, Chrono insisted that they would sleep separately from now on because even being in Kisho’s house itself, is already unfair to Hadriel and Faolan’s part as they don’t even know where Kisho lives. Their conversation last night went like this…

“You should use this to your advantage.” Kisho said as he hugged Chrono’s arm. He was still reluctant to release Chrono. “I don’t care if it’s unfair. We just got back on being good terms and yet we have to separate again.” He pouted.

“You’re acting as if we’re a couple already.” As soon as Chrono pointed that out, Kisho released his hold on him. “We can visit each other’s house but no more sleepovers. Besides,  you won’t be able to think clearly and it would be most likely that you’ll choose me if I’m always around so I’ll just see you tomorrow at the flower shop and if those two doesn’t have any plans, we can have lunch and dinner together as usual, okay?”

Kisho nodded, still wearing his pout. They exchanged goodnight greetings. Kisho was about to kiss Chrono but Chrono stopped him and gave him a kiss on the cheek instead and left the house.

They got to see each other at the flower shop and exchanged morning greetings. Kisho was disappointed that he didn’t receive a kiss or a hug at least. A few minutes later, he got a call from Hadriel that said that they would be going to the movies after Kisho’s afternoon work and of course, Faolan and Hirono/ Chrono got to tag along.

As soon as Kisho chose a seat, Hadriel immediately went to sit at his left while Faolan sat at his right. Chrono continued to walk forward.

“Where are you going?” Kisho asked.

“I’m gonna sit at the front row.” Chrono replied.

“What?!?! Are you insane?!?! It’s a horror movie!!!” Hadriel exclaimed.

“It’s much more exciting over there. See ya after the movie.” Chrono said as he continued to walk forward.

“He really is insane.” Faolan commented.

Kisho knew that Chrono loves horror movies and isn’t scared at them at all but he didn’t bother to tell the two models about it. Halfway through the movie, his right arm is hurting from Faolan’s tight grip while he was wondering if Hadriel is really scared or just acting as Hadriel’s face was being buried at the crook of his neck. He was getting uncomfortable actually so he released himself from them.

“Where are you going?” Faolan asked.

“To buy some popcorn.” Kisho lied.

“I’m going with you.” Hadriel said.

“Don’t bother. I can do it for myself. Just sit there and enjoy.” Kisho said as he hastily walked away but he didn’t actually go to the exit. He turned by the corner and headed for the front row. He immediately spotted Chrono and sat beside him. “Hey, there.”

Chrono was surprise to see Kisho sitting beside him. “What are you doing here? What about the others?”

“Puh-leez. If I sit in between them for another minute, I swear I’m gonna die.” Kisho exaggerated. “Faolan has been gripping tightly on my arm that blood is unable to flow freely while Hadriel has been burying his head on my neck. I don’t know if he’s really scared or just taking up the opportunity but either way it’s uncomfortable.”

“Now you know how I felt like when we first watched a horror movie together.” Chrono chuckled. “Except I didn’t find it uncomfortable when you buried your head on my neck.”

“Thanks to you. I’m almost immune at being scared of horror movies.” Kisho said as he stared on the screen and the scary looking dead/ living human being stared right back at him. “Anyway, I’m sure those two won’t mind that I’m sitting here with you as they don’t know that you are also their rival and here I was thinking that you wanted a fair fight, why aren’t you letting them know that they’re your rivals?”

“It’s not my fault that they’re oblivious.” Chrono shrugged.

“It’s not that they’re oblivious. You’re just acting as if you’re not interested in me.” Kisho pointed out. “And because of that, even I am having doubts of you liking me.”

“That makes the two of us.”

“You think I don’t like you?”

“I’m sure you like me as a friend but nothing more than that but the thing is I want it to be more than just that.”

“True but then again, you aren’t making any effort to be more than just that. I can’t really imagine us to be in a loving couple relationship because what I can see is just physical attraction and friendliness between us.”

“Whatever, Kisho. I don’t want to talk about it.” Chrono went back to paying attention at the movie.

By the end of the movie, Kisho was in down spirits. He was also ready for an excuse/ lie when Hadriel and Faolan asked him why he didn’t returned to his seat. His excuse went like ‘I forgot and kinda got lost so I went to the front row instead since I know Hirono would be there.’ Then Faolan invited them for dinner but Kisho refused and decided to go home. Chrono didn’t walk with him because Faolan and Hadriel might do so as well so it was only when Kisho was near his house that Chrono was finally able to caught up with him.

“Leave me alone.” Kisho said as soon as he noticed Chrono walking beside him.

Chrono knew that it was his fault that Kisho is in a foul mood. “I’m sorry but I don’t think that movie house is adequate for our conversation earlier. I didn’t mean to dismiss you off. Let me make it up to you, okay? What about if I cook your favorite food and dessert for dinner?”

“Can’t you make it up to me on bed?” Kisho inquired.

“If you’re that horny, you could go to Hadriel or Faolan.”

“Would you like that?”

“No.”

“Then why are you even suggesting it?!?! Stop being a martyr, Chrono!” Kisho stomped his feet as he turned to look at Chrono. “I understand that you want it to be fair for Hadriel and Faolan but it’s just too much. I don’t like how you’re acting. You’re not yourself. You’re being Hirono and I want Chrono back.”

“You can only have Chrono back when this whole rivalry comes to an end but if you tell me that I really don’t stand a chance, then I would give up my feelings and return as Chrono…as a friend. I doubt we would be lovers again when that happens. Just think about it.” Chrono patted on Kisho’s head and gave him a goodnight kiss on the cheek before leaving.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Wednesday morning at the Spring Bloom Flower Shop. More or less what happened is the same as yesterday. They exchanged morning greetings with no physical contact then a few minutes later Hadriel called. Kisho figured out that it must be Hadriel who do most of the planning. This time Hadriel wanted for them to hang out at the arcade.

When afternoon came and they were at the arcade, Hadriel and Faolan were at a contest on who would earn the most tickets and stuff toys to be given for Kisho. Mostly, Kisho didn’t enjoy as he was mostly dragged to wherever those two would take him while carrying stuff toys with him. It didn’t help that most of the time Chrono was out of sight. One second, Chrono would appear and help him in carrying the stuff toys, the next second Chrono would be gone again and the stuff toys would be left at Kisho’s care.

After their hang out, Kisho was in a foul mood again. He wasn’t able to play any games at all. Faolan invited them to dinner again and Kisho refused again. He went home with two sacks full of stuff toys. Just like the night before, Chrono caught up with him and helped him with the other sack of stuff toy.

“It’s a good thing that stuff toys are light or else we’ll have a hard time carrying these.” Chrono said as he dragged the sack. “I see you’re in a foul mood again. Does that mean we won’t have dinner together for tonight?”

“No and I’m also angry at you for being away most of the time. You appear and disappear like a ghost. You didn’t entertain me at all. It wouldn’t probably make much of a difference if you didn’t bother to come along.” Kisho was glad that they finally arrived at his house as they simply left the sacks on the living room.

“Sorry. I went off to play on my own so I guess winning the prize isn’t worth it since what you probably wanted is to play and have fun together and yet, I failed to see that earlier but I still want you to have this and once again, I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to make your trip at the arcade enjoyable.” Chrono took Kisho’s hand and placed the prize on Kisho’s palm.

Kisho took a good look on the prize when Chrono’s hand moved away. It was a cellphone strap with an alien face on it and a little alien figure and a UFO ship which would light when he press a button on the side. “It’s cool.” He said as he played with the light’s on and off switch. He looked up and smiled at Chrono. Foul mood gone.

Chrono breathed out a sigh of relief. “I’m glad you like it.” Then he found himself being enveloped in an affectionate hug. He couldn’t help but hug back. He miss physical contact with Kisho. He missed the warm body and comfort but he had to pull himself back from the hug or he might be able to do something that only lovers should so. Right now, they definitely aren’t lovers. He could see the disappointment on Kisho’s face when he ended the hug. “So does that mean we can have dinner together?”

Kisho’s face lit up again. “Yeah, sure.” They got themselves comfortable on the couch and ate siomai with puso for dinner while watching TV. There was an action movie marathon. They kept on watching and forgot about the time and eventually, fell asleep on the couch with the TV on. Much to Kisho’s pleasure, Chrono was still sleeping beside him on the couch next morning. Then the rest of day went unusual.

They were enjoying breakfast together when Kisho received two phone calls. One from Hadriel and the other from Faolan. After talking from the last phone call, Kisho told Chrono what it was all about. “Faolan invited me for lunch while Hadriel invited me for dinner.”

“Oh. I guess it’s fair since we’re having breakfast together.” Chrono replied.

“It’s not. Those two are asking for a date. This is not a date.” Kisho pointed out. “Aren’t you going to ask me for a date?” He really missed hanging out together with just the two of them.

“Sunday.”

“What?”

“I just don’t want a date. I want to hang out. Don’t you think it’s been a long time since we both hang out together, just the two of us? So I want to spend the whole day of Sunday with you.” Chrono said sincerely.

“That’s great! I’ll look forward to Sunday!” Kisho exclaimed.
