Ombattu GuDDa (Feb 16th - Feb 17th 2008)

Background:

After reading PJ's blog on Ombattu guDDa (http://timelessodyssey.blogspot.com/2007/01/ombattu-gudda.html)
and a few other ones, I had decided not to go to Ombattu guDDa whatever happened.
But I couldn't really help myself when the chance came

Naaahh.. he drank so much water after the trek that he got high on water!!

Might seem funny to you!
But, for the initial parts of the trek, till late afternoon we were constantly on the lookout for any sort of noise or activity and were ready to run backwards at a moment's notice.
We also discussed various theories related to the matter such as:
"Elephants cannot run downhill very fast" (Hence we were happy on the steep inclines)
"Elephants cannot turn so easily, so run zig-zag" and so on!

After that, we were least bothered about the elephants. We were extremely thirsty and had decided that if any elephant turns up we'll ask it the location of the nearest water source!

you should never underestimate a pachyderm slipping & rolling down an incline towards you. Too much momentum !
yeah the zig-zag theory is famous :)
