the longest 3-4 seconds, ever

It's really incredible how long 3-4 seconds takes when you're sliding down the pavement on your back at even moderately high speeds. My thought process went something like this: "Oh shit, that car is -- okay, I'm sliding, my skin isn't tearing off, that must mean my gear works, good! crash, inevitable, accident

I had a long 5 seconds when I went into a skid on route 9 in Vermont (curvy, hilly, next to a sharp drop to a cold river) "oop, here goes, body loose, wheel pointing in the direction the car is going, ooh my hands are making slappy noises as they grab and release the wheel, slap slap slap, slap slap slap, oop, I'm pointing the other way now, but I'm on the other side too, oh, and the pavememnt is black here, I can hit the brakes now"

and we were okay.
I loved that car. what a tank.

glad you didn't get road rash/break your neck/die

Well, the worst thing I have is a bruise on my right shoulder. I tried to do an Aikido fall (pure reflex action) but since I was going down sideways it must've been a little off.

Otherwise I'm a little sore in places, but seem to be fine.
