Holy Crap I Live

Jan 18, 2011 02:38

It turns out I still live. I haven't posted here in forever, but a couple of friends drew me back. I was going to start a new blog with some of these random ramblings, and then I thought...well I already have an LJ account. So I'll go back to posting here occasionally ( Read more... )

"I can call demons from the vasty deep."
"Aye, so can I, and so can any man, but will they come when you do call them?"

It's a line from the Mercedes Lackey novel "The Gates of Sleep," a retelling of Sleeping Beauty. The male hero quotes it from an unnamed source when he is fighting the villain. The villain calls upon the Devil to aid him, but the Devil comes only to stand aside and watch rather than interfere.

I feel like it has a lot of depth to it; the idea that anyone can call power, but only the knowledgable can use it properly is the main one. It's been my sig for years!

I know this novel! Lackey is one of my standby authors when Nuthin Else Is Worth Readin. I'll have to revisit Gates of Sleep, but I know I've read it...

Good to see you here again. I only post to my LJ infrequently as it is, but I do check my friends list often.

And I hear you on the lack of work front. I have been facing that issue myself. At least it gives me time to paint that Tau army I collected years ago but never started.

Hmm. Well, I'm continually dismayed that none of your posts are public domain, anymore, be they fictitious or philosophical. I do sincerely hope that you're merely embracing privacy and not, say, trapped under something heavy. I also earnestly hope that you are doing well both professionally and personally, and that you still manage to find a little sunshine even on the gloomiest of days. (If in doubt, always remember that you have a magnificent bosom, indeed.)

If you're the anonymous I'm thinking of, I emailed you at your last known email address. I still have the same email!

Double hmm. I can't tell if the wonders of the internets in the midst of the briny blue foiled my previous comment, or if it's merely pending approval, so to be doubly sure...

I'm dismayed that your posts are no longer public domain; I prefer to assume that you're merely embracing privacy as opposed to, say, inexplicably trapped under something heavy. Lord knows that I'm no stranger to reticence - and I still deeply regret the ramifications that personal predilecition had on our relationship. Regardless, I sincerely hope that you're doing well, professionally and personally, and that you manage to find some sunshine even on the gloomiest of northwestern days. I, personally, would offer that you still hold title to the most spot-on zombie velociraptor impression I have seen to date, as well as that you indubitably still have a magnificent bosom, indeed.
