West Lancaster Farm #4 (Part 6 of 6) “Floyd’s Place”

May 18, 2006 11:51

I’d planned on adding a few more photos from some sites close by this house. Instead I’m just going to post these last few from the yard of the farmstead. To note, I haven’t heard anything back or had any attempted contact from the person(s) living there. Hopefully they found the food, water and toiletries useful.

It appeared as if a personal library and assorted catalogs met their doom behind the barn / work shed. Many of these books appear to have been dumped there recently, but sadly the unrelenting desert sun has already taken its toll following March & April rains.

We walked to the back of the barn / work shed complex and found an area so clean it was nearly surreal.

This lay in stark contrast to the debris, furniture and kitchen appliances decaying inside the barn. It was by this time that the noises we were hearing from the main house were becoming too man-made and too irritated to be ignored. The “resident” was now being obvious though not visible and we elected to depart.

I can’t help to feel more than a little depressed that someone feels compelled by circumstance to live in a ruin like this. Mellow easy going Southern California (apply sarcasm here).
