There is the truth - Jesus died for us. Jesus called us to be his disciples. Jesus called us to live in community. Jesus called us to advance His Kingdom.
I guess we also need to be careful with our motives for going to church. Yes, we do go to church for community, for acceptance, for making us feel better... these are not bad things. But we FIRST go to church, for God. That should be the primary, then all the other things will follow. If the order is reversed, it will not be sustainable.

it's an interesting topic, and i've thought about this before i guess. i think when we're young, we don't have the intellectual need for God. but we feel Him everywhere. as we grow older, we rationalize, we debate, we ask questions, and our mind needs to be satisfied. but does that mean that when we're young, we don't need God, we don't need acceptance etc? not true, we just don't know it yet :)
but why did Jesus say let the little children come, for they will inherit the kingdom of God? ah, that's the purity and innocence that you speak of :) they don't doubt, they simply believe, and they KNOW somehow inherently that Jesus is good. so yes, children are lovely and i wanna be a child again :)
