General updates for the last few weeks

Holidays were busy, as they usually are. I was somewhat less prepared overall than I normally am, due to the crazy larping schedule that happened in the weeks leading up to the holidays.

So, happily, leading up to Christmas, I discovered that I had several days of vacation time that I needed to take before the end of the year or lose it, so I took off several days around Christmas. Which was really fortunate, cause it gave me an extra couple of days to do last minute shopping and things like that. Oh, and lesson to be remembered for the future: no matter how good an idea you come up with for a present, Thursday 4 days before Christmas is not a good time to start a major crocheting project. It will add to your stress in ways that are *entirely* unnecessary.

Anyway, Friday was shopping and running errands. Lots of errands. Saturday I drove down to visit my family, to help them with last-minute prep and to check up on my mom, who'd had major surgery the week before. Then drove back up to meet up with sarrciano, who was working ALL THE OVERTIME. (He worked pretty much straight through from Myanthea to New Years, with one day off for Christmas Day.) Then we drove to meet up with some friends and watch the Hobbit, which was fun. Sunday was more errands, including buying all the food for my family for Monday (Doal and I habitually cook Christmas Eve dinner for my family, which is made more complicated by a ridiculous combination of allergies and eating restrictions).

Christmas Eve Doal was working in the morning (sensing a theme), so drove down southwards a bit to meet a friend who was up from the VA area for brunch, which was a ton of fun. Then went back home, packed the car, and drove down to my parents' place, which had a ton of people in it. Spent the next several hours cooking. I'm going to call it a successful dinner, based on how fast the food went away. 14 people can put away a fairly large amount of food... Then we talked and played games for a while, and finally crashed.

Next morning we slept in all the way until 7:30, at which point we got up and he made pancakes, which were full of sugar and cinamon and sweet enough to eat without anything else on it. Yum. Then we all lined up and opened presents for several hours, which was fun. :) My mom was amusingly more interested in the chocolates I'd gotten to put my actual present in than in the present itself. Around noontime, headed north, stopping off briefly at our apartment to pick up/drop off Christmas presents, then on to Doal's parents place. Hung out there for the rest of the day, watched 'Legend of the Guardians', which was an entertaining but BIZARRE movie about a bunch of hero-owls, and then ate a fantastic traditional Christmas dinner. Eventually the rest of the family showed up, and there were yet more presents. :) Yay presents.

After that, Doal went back to work, and I spent the day vegitating. Went back to work on Thursday, to discover that not much else had happened while I was out (surprising, I know, what with the Christmas holiday). Then, despite the holiday, my boss became determined to get a ton of stuff done, so Thursday-Monday was kinda stressful at work. Saturday drove down to help the Stilgoes paint their new house (which is very cute), until the storm chased me away. Sunday was a Madrigal meeting during which I wrote down a lot of stuff. Monday was work, which was, as discussed, kinda stressful, but I actually got my site activated, so yay.

Monday night drove down to RI to visit the Inkpens, which was a ton of fun, and we got to dress up, which is always fun in and of itself. Spent a chunk of the evening there, then drove over to the Mangios, where we were for the dropping of the ball (one of their boys made it all the way to the end), then spent way too long hanging out and talking larping stuff, which was also a lot of fun, but we didn't get home until after 3 in the morning.

New Years Day was gloriously free of us doing anything useful whatsoever. I don't think I ever managed to get out of my pajamas. Was great.

Since then, there has been a Madrigal meeting, a birthday involving tons of fondue (Oh my goodness, ate way too much food, but it was fantastic), and helping people move. Very busy, and unfortunately, not getting less busy anytime soon. Madrigal RP day next weekend, which should be fun, and at least I don't have to do much prep for it aside from decide which characters I'm showing up as.

Anyway, Happy Holidays everyone!
