Cottington Woods

Mixed bag. Had a lot of fun with the stuff I did, but also had a lot of downtime, and then the entire flow of my weekend got screwed up by me having my own little medical emergency Saturday night. I took a nap outside, and when I woke up, my lip felt all wierd. That was apparently because my upper lip was swollen to 4-5 times it's normal size. ( Read more... )

Sounds like you got to be a total badass this weekend! Wish I could have seen some of that!

And AIIIEEEEEE about the spider bite! Yikes! Having had a "Saturday night is Benadryl night" Larp experience myself, I can totally identify with how it blows a big, surreal hole in your weekend.

I did have a couple of badass moments. It was good to escape from the wolves... although it becomes slightly less badass when you add in that at the time, I thought they were rats and was a bit confused as to why I couldn't make *any* ground in putting them down.

Also had a fun moment on a wolf-fighting mod where I was told to hold back my arrows until we needed them. So I did a bunch of sword/bow fighting, and then realized as I turned from my latest opponent that *everyone* else in the group was down. Managed to get my bow restrung in time to unload on the last wolf in the area. Go me!

And yeah, giant surreal hole in the middle of my weekend did not help. Did you know when on Benadryl and told that your throat may be closing up, it is very easy to convince yourself that the scratchy throat and occasional cough you've had all weekend are symptoms of DEATH?

Go you for pulling it out on the wolf mod! Saving the day is always awesome when you can pull it off. :)

And yes, actually, I am surprisingly familiar with the phenomenon of how when you have reason to believe your throat might be closing up, suddenly the tiniest little bit of tickle or scratchiness seems like it COULD BE YOUR DOOM. (And have also had the exact opposite situation, where I convinced myself that my throat closing up in an anaphylactic reaction was actually just a sudden, vicious relapse of a cold I'd had all week.) You would think it would be super obvious whether you're actually about to maybe stop breathing and die or not in any given situation, but it REALLY ISN'T.

I'm not entirely sure about how the memory thing with Aurora worked out, but I think it sounds like a pretty neat idea. What was the Company of the Heart scene/song? I must have missed it.

For the Aurora thing, on Friday night we ran through a mod to reach Aurora. We fought/jumped/climbed our way through a number of rooms, then found her sleeping, tried to sing her awake, set off a magical trap, undid the magical trap, finally managed to wake her up, and left ( ... )

A handful of us wandered off to discuss the wedding, so I missed the song and epic posing altogether.

Oh, very sad! It was a neat scene. I've got the music somewhere, and I hear some people were getting copies of the words, at least.
