Aralis event
Had a fun time at Aralis this weekend. Feeling mostly like an observer in the entire thing, but still had a bunch of fun scenes.
- "I am Lin Zeshu, the Swift!" :rapid bow before resuming a standing position that also somehow includes constant motion:
- As usual, RP with Squint was a highlight. :) It is sort of fascinating to see how far they've come.
- Spending a really solid chunk of Friday night running in circles around the campsite, trying to evade my fellow PCs and also spy on them to find out what they were doing to try to capture me. I've never done anything like that before, and despite having a pretty big advantage in some odd IG skills (and the unfortunate intersection of several inflicts), and familiarity with the campsite, it was still freaking dark and I was running away from a lot of people who had voice and gesture effects against me and did manage to get away (a couple times), so I'm quite pleased with myself. They never did find me, I managed to snag an NPC from my hiding spot (one of many) under a cabin to inform plot of where I was so that the staff characters the PCs were asking to help find me actually *could* find me. Also, am fixed now! Yay!
Also, I apologize for the absolutely terrible calls I was making as I tried to convey several different effects going off. "Ow! No effect?"
- "You want to BUY something from me? Normally I just lose money coming here..."
- hearing later about someone trying to describe my skill-set to another PC. "Fathom? She... um... she keeps fighting..."
"But what is she good at? Killing undead? Damage? Maims?"
"Um... no. She just keeps fighting."
- Had a couple of interesting RP things happen during the time-lapse, including being very, very confused as to why the blue undead weren't spiking me, and Squint and Fathom's mutually horrified/ bewildered responses upon being told that they were married.
- had a lot of really really intense discussions with other people over the course of the weekend, including several that I'd not spoken to much before (or habitually fought with).
- being one of the few people to live through Bliss's demonstrative murdering of the entirety of town, and thus being one of the few to remember it (and also being amused (in a chagrined way) OOG that I didn't get any healing when the 'cure death and heal 10 by time' went off)
- a really awesome discussion with Fujiwara on the porch of the teahouse
- my heart skipping a beat when Sade took off her mask
- town rallying together to fight Bliss. Very very rough fight but we were all committed to it and unified in a way I don't think we've ever been. There were a number of times that I was standing basically alone on some part of the line watching Bliss lean over to grab Sade or Najita and going, "OK, I have 2 vitality and a stick but that's more than anyone else," and stepping up to fight him and several minions because we were NOT going to stand by and let him take either of them.
And, because it's Aralis, holding someone during a final (kinda awesome) speech and going, "Try to take it the way he meant it, not the way he said it. He *meant* it well..."
