Yellowstone

Last week we went to Yellowstone. The boys were not terrible in the car but I'm not sure we would have made it much further without someone having a meltdown.(I'm not saying who) How did those brave pioneers take their families over such distances under such conditions? We barely had enough courage to face those four hours in our air conditioned ( Read more... )

Keep going on those trips...we took Seeth on his first major trip when he was just under a year...we went up to Nebraska, then Nauvoo and then to Utah and then back to Texas...once they figure out that this is a normal and fun thing to do...they will be wonderful...go often. We had toys...books on tapes back then the kids books which told you when to turn the page. Well, yes I know that I am not near as old as pioneers but take trips as often as possible so kids learn to behave and enjoy it. It also helps parental units from melting down.

I have to say I even saw a difference in the coming and going on this trip. So I imagine it could get easier on them and I learned a lot about what I would prepare differently for all of our benefit. I was afraid the trip home was going to sour the fun we had. My kids always cope/adapt much better than I expect. They were really good. Old McDonald never had so many animals on his farm...

When we were first married we flew out to VA where Brad is from to drive back to Utah a gem of a car (that is a different story). Anyway, we just took our time and it WAS great fun. Hasn't he slept through most of his roadtrips in the Mothership? May she rest in peace...

Yup seriously. We got back the night before the race that you totally rocked. I am not going to chicken out on the 4th of July race though(that is me telling myself). So yeah, come run with me... or you can push me in a stroller. No wait, I am totally running this race, cross my heart.
