I got into a "discussion" -- turned into a bit of a pissing contest, though, it seemed -- on a friend's Facebook post recently. I stated my position on bottled water (none, period) and was called to task by another poster who noted how necessary it was "in emergencies." I agree with you on all fronts, and trying to achieve no plastic is quite a goal. I think that's a really good point--that thinking that there is always more stuff is a part of Manifest Destiny.

I live in a tiny house and therefore have to keep purging stuff so as not to be overwhelmed with stuff that has no storage space.

For a long time, living in much smaller quarters than we have now, I have a "volume trade" protocol for stuff... If I needed X, I had to get rid of a similar volume of some sort of stuff before I could bring more in.

I am working to pare down now, also... bit by bit. Lots of my current stuff is project materials for things that I have not (yet) completed.. but I am working on it!

Volume trade is pretty much the rule here. Tiny old houses lack closet space.

But then, I do have a large garage.
