Yay! Gld to find another fan! I too loved True Detectives, was the first non-Delaware of his works I've ever read. Loved specially that, for once, we got to see racism through the eyes of a black character, because it's always through the eyes of the racists in his books. I wasn't so crazy about their mother, though, because she went from strong woman who challenged society to loony-mama, so that was a bit of a let down.
I didn't see the mother like that. The rivalry between Moe and Aaron is so tight- I can't imagine what it did to her. But, I like it that it isn't completely resolved by the end. They are getting along better(as indicated in the following Delaware book-evidence-as well) but they're not there. I have a short fanfic idea in mind- where Liz and Moe are getting married and her parents come out to California and they are kind of being assholes because Moe isn't black. The idea centers around having Aaron pick up her parents at the airport and not tell them that he's Moe's brother and then finally tell them they're being jerks. But it's all in my head and not written yet. You should read Billy Straight and the other Petra novel. I wish that Kellerman would do more Petra novels-especially when he wrote about 8 Delaware novels that seemed uninspired(But the last 4 have been EXCELLENT). But, I enjoy Petra and Eric and the second one introduces Issac Gomez- who I think is an INCREDIBLE character.
Gosh, I do love your fic idea. I hope you write it and post it so everyone can read it, because there aren't a lot of fics of ADS around. I just dropped some prompts on SmallFandomFest hoping to get people writting, but I'm usually the one claiming my own prompts :-P lol I love Milo and Rick, so I'm kinda cautious when it comes to non-Milo books, but I do wanna read Billy Straight. But DECEPTION is on top of my list right now.
I have read everything Kellerman has written except the ones he did with his wife. and Deception. But I'll wait awhile since I like to own them and don't want to pay the hardback full price.

You should read Billy Straight and the other Petra novel.
