We were able to go surfing and we all had a blast-so much fun that we want to try it again, but that’s partly because we didn’t have enough time to learn to surf in. If you ever get the chance, go to Waikiki and rent a board and instructor there. It is a very nice, long, relatively shallow area and there are a LOT of folks always there, either learning or just practicing. You can do well just listening in to other peoples' instructors, and it is VERY clear when to paddle and when to hop up, because there are always people to the right and left doing it with you :)

And there are several hotel bars right next door, so you can numb yourself to the screaming in your shoulders after you are done.

Hey! Just heard about your trip and wanted to come hear about it here.

I actually just made surfing the whole point of an epic road trip adventure. It's only half written so far (I came back and got EpiLasik and couldn't see to write out the last half until now!)
