Sounds pretty par for the course in China. Things are cheap enough there, so that hopefully the bargains vs the bullies will all balance out in the end. Even my guide from Guangzhou got angry at a Guangzhou taxi driver who tried to rip her off, and she LIVES there. Luckily, honest Chinese people aren't offended by tourists on the defensive. So, you tell 'em!
