The Animal Kingdom was the closest park to our condo, so we could sleep in just a little this morning and still catch the opening "The Adventure Begins." After that, the plan almost fell apart. When last we left our heroes (ahem) we were wandering on Tom Sawyer Island. Or possibly under it, because we explored both the "sekrit tunul" and Tom Sawyer's cave... which incidentally was nothing like the actual cave in Hannibal which we visited earlier this year. We got another early start, and I'm glad we did, because even with handicapped parking you have to walk through their "downtown" shops & restaurants area just to get to the park gate, and because they let folks in quite early - at least 20 minutes before the posted opening time. The food prices at Disney have gotten rather ridiculous, so we only made advance reservations for two full-service meals on park this trip, one breakfast and one lunch. Up'n'at-em! We like to get to the parks before they open - many of them do some kind of welcome ceremony, and also we can be first in line. Thanks to my knee we could park in handicapped parking so with our nearby condo and a quick breakfast at said condo, we didn't even have to get up all that early. A few months ago I mentioned to my folks that this might be Big-B's last long fall break, as we don't know if he'll be at a year-round school next year, and should we take advantage of that to go to Disney World again?
