Star Trek: TNG

I have a theory about Star Trek. There were 4 major series published: TOS (original series), TNG (next generation), DS9 (deep space nine), and Voyager.
(Author's note: Star Trek: Enterprise is not actually a Star Trek series. It is an abomination and a taint upon the good name of Gene Roddenberry. A special place in hell is waiting for the ( Read more... )

I went back. They still had them on sale at the ridiculously low price, so I bought them. And then I bought the first three seasons of DS9, also at the same ridiculous price. Yes, she who controls the money approved it, to all you nay-sayers

So I'm happy. I have about 120 hours of Star Trek on the shelf now...*grin*

I was never much of a Star Trek fan, in any of its numerous incarnations. In fact, I've never really been a fan of any Roddenberry show. I love sci-fi, but his stuff just never appealed to me. It all felt too clean and cookie-cutter perfect.

I think this was your best LJ entry yet!! Touche, Hason!! Although, I think the Ferengi pull DS9 ahead of Voyager...I just can't argue with your logic!

There were Ferengi in Voyager too. :) A couple of Ferengi from a Next Generation episode who'd fallen into a wormhole and ended up in the Delta Quadrant. It added a nice little bit of closure to one of TNG's open-ended episodes.

after watching all of ds9 (though after reading your comments i remember skipping some of the ferengi episodes), i can only really recommend the last season. but that's taking into account time vs. payoff. the other seasons are 2-3 stars, but the time investment isn't worth it unless you're hard core (which is the polite term.) interesting that you rated voyager so highly, i've been meaning to watch it since i only saw the first season or so.

Well, the first couple of seasons of Voyager are relatively weak, but I'm a huge fan of the Borg, as a concept-enemy.

I think that Voyager still didn't quite do the Borg justice...but it was interesting seeing them delve more into the Borg collective.

TNG was definitely my favorite, by a long shot. Campy--yes, especially at the beginning, but worth the investment.
