So, I've spent a large amount of my Christmas Break reading and writing, and thought I'd share some of the books I'd read with all of you
( Read more... )
I actually loved Tithe and it's sequels, Valiant and Ironside a lot lot more than Wicked Lovely and Ink Exchange! I love Wicked Lovely, but I haven't been able to make it through Ink Exchange yet.
I don't know what it is about them. I have a mad swoon over Roiben! hahaha. Ironside is definitely the best of the three, so you should keep going!
I've only read Blue Bloods (and its sequels) and Tithe; I've read BB many times over and Tithe when I was much younger (in fact, it was so long ago, I didn't bother with it sequels. Though, I did read other, lesser dark books by Holly Black like The Spiderwick Chronicles).
It's not as if I didn't like Tithe, or found that it was too dark. In fact, at the time I LOVED it. (And I thought I was so cool in the sixth grade because I was reading darker books than my peers. Haha.) It's just by the time the next book came out, my taste changed and matured. I was more or less... not interested. Haha.
Blue Bloods... ahh. I hated the book when I first read it. I thought it was poorly written, confusing, and the characters immature (haha, and I laughed at the name Jack Force). Then, my cousin had gotten into it. And we started talking about it, and eventually started analyzing the books, as in hypothesizing about what is going to happen in the next books, and... I'm a sucker for analytical discussions. The more I read it, the more I wanted to
( ... )
If you love analytical discussion.... you would have a field day with City of Bones... It's all my sister and I talk about. And it's hard to describe the emotional torment of City of Bones-- I wouldn't actually say the book is sad. It's not like it's riddled with the deaths of your favorite characters... not that kind of emotional. There is just a twist at the end... that doesn't involve anyone dying, but it does prevent something from happening that you spend the whole book hoping and wishing to happen. Does that make sense?
Graceling is wonderful, and you should read it! But I also think you should give City of Bones a chance! Or maybe wait until the last book comes out in March so that you don't have to wait in agony like the rest of us(because I'm hoping for a happy ending in book 3). And if you ever do read City of Bones, I have a one-shot fanfic written that you can check out. :)
Ah, then, I'll probably check it out. (: I mean, I love emotional stories, I'm just getting ahead of myself, because there are times I just get so frustrated I wanna scream at a book or stop reading (but of course I continue... most times). I think I'll do just that in March, or close to March, when I'm off of my F. Scott Fitzgerald kick. Haha. Then I'll see your fic. :D
