*hugs*

So well said... I can disagree with people who voted another way, but if you didn't vote, you gave up your chance to have a say....

It's more than that. jkuroda November 5 2008, 18:02:55 UTC
By not voting, you become as responsible if not more so for how things are as those who voted to make it that way. The only difference, those who voted to make it that way had the nerve to vote that way.

If you could vote but didn't, then get the fuck out of my state, get the hell out of my country, and leave it to those who give enough of a damn to vote.

also, the one person at the party last night who told people that he didn't vote -- he got punched in the balls and nearly puked from it. i think that should be the immediate treatment of all eligible yet non-voters. we certainly would stop having this problem.

i agree, jon, and what also irks me is that so many (supposedly) otherwise intelligent people didn't even bother to do any work to understand the ballot beyond the presidency. so they "voted," but often they stopped at the top. or (even worse!) they just coast through and answer off the cuff, then end up getting swayed by the manipulative wording of various measures and voting in the opposite direction than how they would if they took a minute to get informed. i mean really, there are those who spend hours and hours listening/reading/debating, but even for the average voter there are still many resources that break down quick summaries of what the measures really mean, the pro/cons, and what the rest of the candidates on all the different levels stand for. i think this is the main reason prop 5 didn't pass, for example. so yay, thanks to ignorance plus laziness we get to have more overcrowded prisons and less rehabilitation and thus more unemployment, more crime, more misery, and more disparity ( ... )
