You work at a university. It's filled with brilliant stupid people who will give away all sorts of important personal information without even verifying if the requester is someone they trust.

Last week I gave my former roommate my LJ password so he could read my posts about my health, all of which are locked to friends and many of which are filtered even further. I never thought twice about it, I just said, "make sure you log out when you're done".

My team in Chicago (er, Team Chicago, as it were) loves loves LOVES to color code their catV. They beg me to send them cables in different colors so eth0 on a machine can be one color and eth1 can be another. And then they make their racks all tied off and clean and pretty. It may be OCD but it suits me fine and I'm lucky to have hired detail-oriented people to do my extended will. :)
