The AP covered Easter mass in Rome: "Holy Father, on your side are the people of God," Cardinal Angelo Sodano told the pontiff, whom victims of clergy sexual abuse accuse of helping to shape and perpetuate a climate of cover-up. Sodano, dean of the College of Cardinals, dismissed those claims as "petty gossip."

I have an LJ friend who consistently defends the pope and his cohorts every time I post an article about the priest abuse scandal in the catholic church. She keeps telling me that I don't have all the facts and that I need do more research. She insists that the whole thing is just malicious rumors. Yeah...right
