I do love the sentiment involved, that determination for enjoying a life loving this woman kept the guy hanging on--that's the stuff of a great story. Two things within the tale, however, I adored as much as the sentiment: 1)the rope "sizzled" through his hands, and, 2)'Forty Stories to Go' IS THE GREATEST BAR NAME EVER.
You commented and it wasn't screened :) I'm so glad you read my story. It's not the kind of story I wanted to write, but it came to me as I was cleaning the car and I figured I could always right another since it's JFF. I did very much like my bar name, it has so many possibilities. I love that about bars and hair salons, the more creative you are with the name the better. Where's yours? I can't wait for Sunday. I had to write something. It would be silly to say I want the band to get back together and then not turn up at the gig.
As for not wanting to write a certain kind of story, but it showing up anyway, what a mixed bag of blessings! That used to drive me to the edge. Now, of course, I miss that happening. It's been two years since I've wrestled with inspiration.
I'm definitely looking forward to your next entry!
Wow - what an exciting story!! I was really ripping through it, and then... had to re-read it for ... reality check.
SPLENDID... really super. Are you going to start with the Comp stories? PLEASE. It's horrid not having several people joining in - I know I've been lax but illness kept me out of circulation. But please we do want more writers in BF and you have a right corker here. I was breathless and huffing at the end!!!!
Thank you for such an enthusiastic comment. It feels good to get positive feedback. I'm not sure how much I will do with the weekly contests. I immensely enjoy writing but I can't always count on the inspiration to strike at the same time I have the hours free to get it all down. I'm sure it sounds horrible, but I lucked out that my boyfriend had the flu this weekend because it gave me time to write.
I do get what you mean about the lack of participation. I had hoped that several people would post entries this week. I love seeing the varied interpretations of the prompts.
