Since you asked about books, I'll post a few on here I've enjoyed for various reasons. I would also recommend that you follow musesong. She is not a Brigit's Flame member or a person who really engages much from that user name/journal, but she does read more than 100 books per year and uses the journal to post reviews. 'Consider the Lobster' is definitely a winning title.
Just read the synopsis on Amazon. It sounds like it could be fun. I like that he has an essay on the war between dictionary makers.

I'd imagine the Oxford people and the Merriam-Websters can get awfully prissy with each other over new words.

Interesting. I haven't read any of these, but Imagica and The Margarets sound like things I might like.

I hope you get a chance to try them out. I enjoyed both books so much.

There are other titles I would recommend, more to the fantasy fiction side, like the Bartimeaus stories by Jonathan Stroud. Once I finished the list I thought of a ton more. :)
