From the WW message boards...this felt helpful to look at again later:

"I recommend "baby steps". List all the things that you know go with successful wt loss (eating fruits & vegies, getting exercise, etc.). Then pick the EASIEST one and do that until you feel you really have it as part of your life. Then the next easiest one, etc. Soon you will ( Read more... )

Hey there,
If it helps any, these two quotes sound a lot like what the Bradley method wants you to do during pregnancy, especially the part about keeping track of everything that goes into your mouth. It really worked for me - I was so much more conscious of the decisions I was making. This has two sides to it: it can become another weapon with which to beat oneself up (because of bad decisions), but it can also help you be more aware of when you make good decisions (and these occasions are not as far apart as you might think!).

So, in essence, I'm saying -- you can do it! Motivation, as long as you have some, does not matter as to the reason. It doesn't make you a shallow person if you want to look better on vacation.

As Red Green says, "Remember, I'm pullin' for you. We're all in this together."

hi,
thanks! I woke up at 4 this morning convinced you were having the kid. Wonder why?

Maybe you were convinced because I was hoping so hard that the full moon might kick things into gear? But sorry, nothing doing. I think things are going that way (my hips are even looser and more discombobulated than usual), but it's just not starting yet. Grrrr.

In other news, I took another proofreading job from BD, halfway convinced that, by Murphy's Law, it would surely mean that labor would start so that I couldn't finish. :) Still waiting to see on that one, and in the mean time, I'll make a little money.

How are you doing?

I am working a lot, even on Saturdays. Last night E and M and I had our "Epiphany" gift exchange--very fun. We also watched "Accepted" which I didn't think I would like but turned out to be *hilarious*.

Other than that it has been business as usual here. I am neither great nor horrible; I feel like I'm just sort of paddling along, mostly contentedly so.

Can't wait to hear when you have big news...

I've also fallen off the weight-loss wagon, and I do know that tracking food makes a huge difference. Even without making a big effort to change diet, just making that effort to pay attention changes how you eat, you know?

Shall we agree to start our food tracking again?

I would like to get the online thing back. I am considering signing up for that as well as meetings--you can get that all in one package. Are you thinking of reupping the online thing too?

I hope you get this even though I'm commenting on an old post. I just started my Live Journal account and added you as a friend! My user name is the very creative lgalbreath. I'm sure you'll find me.

I chose this post because it sounds so familiar! I'm back on the diet again and starting over from scratch... At my doctor's appointment before I left Chicago I was told that my weight had changed a total of 1 pound in the entire previous year of huge diet success and failure. So I know exactly how frustrating it is to be right back where you started!
