It's too bad they didn't take any PMR446s with them (the UK equivalent of FRS/GMRS-band radios);

I can see the Professor being aghast at the suggestion, not wanting to sully the experience of being on Iona with the possibility of noise from a mere walkie-talkie. He may, of course, change his tune after this...

There is absolutely no good in him going out in that, but I'm practically busting out of my skin with him wanting to go find her.

And I *wanted* him to go find her. But the blasted man *would* see reason and insist on staying back instead...

Oh no! Poor Rose! Poor Peter! Though I now am wondering what Peter does to hurt himself . . . .

Not sure what the trope standard is, but in my mind "hurt" isn't restricted solely to the physical. If that helps. ;)

Ah, gotcha. I used to be the queen of that in early SG-1 fanfic (when I used to write). O'Neil was my favorite victim and his past and associated guilt was my minefield. LOL. Only mine were always short because I couldn't keep the angst going without making myself a basketcase. We used to call it angst as the h/c writers were all about beating someone to a bloody pulp and then fixing them up with a hug. Unfortunately that sort of hurt/comfort came to dominate non-slash, non-shipper fan fiction in SG-1 and spelled the beginning of the end for me.

LOL. I did always wonder what the difference was between h/c and angst. I mean, I know it when I see it...but I completely fail at verbalizing it!

Did I hear something about taking a break from writing? I really think I did! ;) So it was an awful nice surprise to find this and you once again set up a nail biting cliff hanger.

It was great to read about the professor and Rose again and I can't wait to read part two!

I'd *thought* I'd qualified it with "I have two things I owe people that must be done; otherwise, it's a break", basically. And that still holds: I had this, for which W3 waited patiently, and I have an episode to write for the_altverse. And then I will rest.

XD

*joins chorus of "Poor Peter!"*

I know that no good can come of wandering out to look for her now, and I know she can probably take better care of herself than he could himself, but I don't know how he's managing to make himself stay put.

His emotions run very, very strong where Rose is concerned. But being a professor--and no doubt having been caught in foul weather more than a few times himself--rationality still demands to get a say in things.

He's made of stern stuff, is the Professor.
