blue scholars, really? i got a promo of theirs and the black angels a little while back because of some corresponding with light in the attic records. i need to pull that out and listen to it! i forgot about it til now! and yeah, matisyahu, i agree, i'm missing the hype i think. i can appreciate good reggae to an extent, which i understand this is, but i think the hype is based around his religion and he's become some what of a phenomenon. a novelty if you will. we got the Nevermore Film Festival coming up, which i'm excited about. that's my version of your SciFi film fest excitement. lookin forward to the Super Bowl! you'll hear me cheering on those seahawks!
I agree about the hype. I like him okay, but I can't listen to a whole album of reggae at even the best of times. Matisyahu is up there as good reggae artists go, but after the first couple of songs...what? It's dancehall, it's dancehall about G-d, and the guy singing has to fake his dancehall accent because when he talks he sounds exactly like every other Hasidic Jew in New Yawk. He wears a funny hat. So what?
