The people came to do the gutters today and did the entire job in less than 3 hours. Now we need a good rain storm to see how well they work. It will be so nice not to have the drip right outside our patio door any more, particularly for the spring thaw next year ( Read more... )

Well, through a monumental error in judgment I managed to strand Mom and I in a huge LAKE of a puddle which necessitated our rescue by a very kind young gentleman with a tow rope. I haven’t been sleeping very well since the advent of das boot. I wake up during the night in pain and have to take it off in order to get back to sleep. So today I gave in and called the doctor and asked her to prescribe either a painkiller or a sleep-aid. The weekend went by fast and now I am starting my first week up and about on my crutch. I hope I can get chores done around here despite my pitiful crippled state. Certain things like laundry are out of the question until I dump the crutch, as carrying things down the stairs, while stumping around like this is probably not wise. All in all, it has been a good day. This morning I got up and washed my hair in the kitchen sink. Then I went out to do some errands. I went to the clinic to get a Drs. signature on the forms (they wanted to send me away as my Dr. wasn’t in, but I got stubborn and got my way) then onto the library. So, here's the deal...It is just the chip in the ankle bone and I can now walk some as soon as it doesn't cause me pain, which is now with the boot which I should wear 24/7 except for periods in which I do some light flexibility exercises. It seems my Dr. thinks she sees what might be an "unstable fracture" further up on the ankle in the x-rays taken today. That means 2 more days of no walking until the orthopedist can take a look. If it is I will need to have a pin put in on Friday. Otherwise, I will be okay sticking with the "boot" they have me in now. ( She says she almost never ( Read more... )

They just got here and everything has been ready for them since 7 am. But they have finally started and as they are just taking off the old shingles and stomping around, they are not as noisy as anticipated...yet. Jaq said she would stop in sometime today . I hope she makes it.
