It takes a real talent to screw up such a simple task. The shower faucet was leaking. I shut the water off to the house, removed the faucet cartridge, and proceeded to the hardware store to get a replacement. No luck. I went to Home Depot, and showed a guy what I was looking for, and he said "I can almost guarantee that we don't have one of those" ( Read more... )

did the water valve get opened back up all the way when you went to turn on the water to the house after you were done?

chances are the shut off valve was an old valve and when you shut it off the washer in THAT valve went to hell too.
You are going to have to shut off the water at the meter and then disassemble the main shut off valve and fix it now too.
Home repairs fall under Murphy's rule.
