We read the Catcher In The Rye in AP this year and for months it plagued me afterwards. I loved the book, but those last two lines I just never understood

Don't forget a few things about Holden, sweet girl: 1. Even though Holden thought the world was full of "phonies", he was the biggest "phony" of them all. It's alot easier for him to see what is wrong with the world than himself, and he fooled himself A LOT thorough the whole book.
2. Holden was miserable, for the most part.
3. The only time Holden wasn't miserable was when he was being REAL with Pheobe, meaning we all need someone.
He's a great guy, but I don't know that he was as smart as he wanted us to believe he was.
Just a few thoughts. Don't forget that these people miss you, not just you missing (or not?) them. :)

In "Six Degrees of Separation" starring Will Smith (his first movie role actually), the main character, Paul, gives a very intelligent speech about Catcher in the Rye....i dont remember where it is in the movie but the whole movie is awesome and needs to be seen by everyone....have fun...Chris
