Soon, I turn 30

Well, I turn 30 in December, but it's been freaking me out since I turned 29.  I'm not taking it well, ladies.

Right now, I'm obsessing over a party.  It's totally irrational.  I think it's because I can't stop myself turning 30, but I can at least control that.  I'm obsessing because I have a very clear idea of what I DON'T want to happen, but I'm ( Read more... )

Take charge Jeanette! Throw yourself a blow out 30th birthday party. T's b-day is in December too and he gets lots of XMas-b-day gifts too. Both of those places sound fun. You should go for it. Hey, why not make it another event with invites and favors, eh?!? ;)

Oh I always get shafted with the combined gift.

Everyone at work wants me to have a party. They are trying to get me to get this abandoned church and have a big party in it, but my thinking is that if I did that, it would become a work thing as opposed to my partying you know?

For C's 30th I threw him a surprise party at a bar. So I told him he better arrange something.

Honestly, I don't really care so much about gifts. I love to get gifts, don't get me wrong, but I'm pretty happy with whatever. It's just that people tend to make a huge deal about "oh, I got you one really nice gift instead of two." Then when I open it, it really isn't that nice. Besides, everyone else gets TWO nice gifts...one at their birthday and one at Christmas, why do I only get one just cuz I was born in December?

Yeah I know what you mean. I would prefer no gift at all to a thoughtless gift. MIL is always buying totally thoughtless gifts. I mean, not that they are offensive or anything, but they aren't ever things we like or use or have anything remotely to do with our taste. Oh well.
