Movie Watching Habits

It occurred to me recently that I haven't been watching as many movies lately.  I had thought this a recent trend of the last two years, but after I looked over the films of the last decade via Box Office Mojo, I came to realize that its really been a tale of two half decades.  From 2001 through 2005, I averaged just under fourteen movies a year.  ( Read more... )

Couple things: Movies are realllly expensive, even if you're just getting a ticket and skipping the popcorn.

Movies, of late, have been rather derivative - When was the last time you went to the theater for something that wasn't a remake of another movie/tv show or had a number in the title?

It's hard to get excited to go to the movies to see the latest reimaging of spiderman, it's harder when you need to pay 10+ dollars for the privilege.

(I know people bitch about people talking/etc in the theater - But that was /always/ the case, there is a great deal of revisionist history going on there.)
