So, a couple of weeks later, how are we doing? (It may be of value to look at my first
Codex entry, to see where all these games were when I started logging them.)
Nimbys, Turn 86
In twelve days, we've played five turns. That's because, as with most games in the end game, its gone to a 48 hour clock. My turns, however, have been reduced to one or two orders. That's because I'm down to just two provinces, the ones I have fortified. It won't be much longer before the end.
Kdom, Turn 54
After holding off Pangaea's invasion, I managed to convince him to go after the resurgent Ermor, especially when Ermor cast a global enchantment called Burden of Time which causes all mortal creatures in the world to age and die quickly. That's catastrophic for most nations, but doesn't hurt Ermor at all because most everything Ermor does uses undead. I used the time bought by this to invest heavily in summoned creatures and magical weapons, as well as hopefully enough troops to hold my castles while my troll heavy summoned army rolls through Pangaea's armies. If that fails, I'm screwed, so its pretty much all or nothing here.
In a side show, Caelum was attacked by Tien'chi, so I've helped dogpile
Caelum, a race of birdmen, by grabbing a couple of lightly defended territories along the border. With luck, that won't leave me too overexposed when Pangaea attacks next turn.
Faraday, Turn 27
I've gotten into an early war with Marverni, the one nearby neighbor I mentioned in the first post. I think I should be able to win it, and doing so will give me control of the entire lower fourth of the world. This one looks good so far.
Musical Chairs, Finished
My ally
Helheim, another giant race, managed to get enough blood sacrifices to kill off three other gods in one turn, then we settled in for the final war. Which he won by doing the same to me. It was the first time I've seen the dom-kill strategy in play, and it really is very powerful. It was an impressive win by the Helheim player. Coming in second ain't so bad, I suppose.
Michrsandintermediate, Turn 75
This game was down for most of a week, and when it came back I'd kind of lost the thread as to what was going on. At this point we've got Vanheim on the run, and its about the point where I need to start thinking of backstabbing Pangaea, or picking of Agartha. To that end I'm withdrawing my main units out to sea while I decide what to do next, leaving a secondary army to pick off leftover Vanheim and Ulm territories in the south.
Seagal, Out with Turn 61
As predicted, I lost. Machaka and Ulm crushed me between them and I went AI with everything I used to own either taken or under siege. My inability to get anything better than water units really killed me in that game.
Impatient, Out with Turn 53
My inability to crack Pangaea's lines eventually doomed me. Mictlan came in from the west while all I had was dying in the east, and just rolled me up. There's a Dominions 3 axiom: "If you're not advancing, you're losing." That came true here for me.
Shara2, Turn 8
The original Shara crashed and burned, so this is the replacement. I'm playing as MA Ermor, and I'm building an all undead, all the time army. I've only barely met any of my neighbors, and we're in the expansion phase. So far, so good.
1813Prime, Turn 12
I'm playing Pangaea again, and after suffering some Manticore attacks (Shinuyama's god) I managed to drive him off and start to reclaim my territory. Whether I can still do so in the long term remains to be seen.
Bovine, Turn 12
I've gone with Bogarus, and I've run into LA Ermor. Three nations in the game have a special dominion power that spreads as their god's dominion does. MA C'tis has the miasma, a poison that kills of non reptilian life. LA R'lyeh has madness, which drives people insane. And LA Ermor has death, which kills off all living people and troops. That's the problem here. LA Ermor is hated by everyone except that player, and needs to be ganged up on as soon as possible. As the first one to meet him, I've done so, but not having gotten any support from my neighbors yet, I've taken some pretty serious losses trying to hold him in check. I got some help from a random event, but he's rolling again, and I don't know if I can stop him. And if I can, whether I'll have enough left to carry on and win the game proper. Its kind of discouraging.
