You'll find the Admiral is a difficult man to contact in general.

Are you frequently in the habit of reading people's private correspondences, sir?!

If you had wanted this to be private, you should have indicated it as such. And I'm not a "sir", my name is Kahlan Amnell.

I do not mean to intrude and thus have not read more than the intended addressee of your missive. I had hoped to offer my assistance as you are becoming acquainted with this vessel. If you find yourself in need of help or with questions and are not sure whom to direct them to, please do not hesitate to call upon me.

Miss Elizabeth Bennet, sir. It is a pleasure to consider you an acquaintance. Are you well?

The pleasure is mine, Miss Bennet. And I'm as well as a man can be in these surroundings. I trust the same holds true for you?

You may, sir. I have the honor to serve His Majesty King George III. You're familiar with the man?

Not personally, no.

But I do hope that you won't hold my nationality against me. England and France have warred with one another many times, but I cannot hold your nation a grudge as it has provided me a refuge in exile. My brother-in-law knows your Prince of Wales. I never went to those kind of parties.

Welcome to the Barge, captain. I'm Armand St. Just.

A Frenchman, eh? Well, Mr. St. Just, I have had the pleasure of knowing several honourable--several extremely honourable--Frenchmen, both in battle and in times of peace, who have treated me with kindness. I should be happy to consider you an acquaintance, and as the war don't seem to extend to these parts, I'd say we may dispense with it. Jack Aubrey, sir.
