wakey wakey eggs and cramp

This morning around 4AM, I was violently ripped out of sleep by an extreme cramp in my right calf muscle. This is an extremely disorienting way to wake up. I don't think I've ever had a muscle cramp quite so painful, and I can feel that it is still taught and near the threshold of cramping up again. :-( Not exactly an auspicious start to my

I get very painful muscle spasms on a semi-regular basis (due to various injuries) and find that alcohol is the best cure. Seriously...works way better than tylenol or anything like that. If you feel it might cramp up again, might give it a try.

I do that, occasionally. It sucks, I know. Once I woke up and it had a spasm so bad I didn't know what to do. My gut instinct upon awakening was to move, so I did...stupidly. I fell to the floor and couldn't really move for about 15 minutes. Mine seem to do that when I move in my sleep a lot. It's pretty stupid. I hope it feels better. :)

eat a banana. cramps (or so my granny says) are a sign of low potassium.

yeah, it's mostly from dehydration. the potassium helps the body retain water. i do eat bananas (and potatoes) pretty frequently, but my body has gotten used to the humidity being between 85%-99% around here, and we've had an unusual dry spell lately. so even though i'm drinking major quantities of water, it's just not staying in my body. i think that's a large part of why i've been feeling nauseous lately, because it's sort of like being hungover. my skin is all dry and peeling and my nails are very brittle, and it seems like i'm having to reapply lotion to my hands every 20 minutes to keep my fingertips from peeling down to the bone. :-( and it wouldn't be quite so bad, except the weather keeps switching from cold and dry for two days and then hot and sticky for two days, and then back and forth again and again, so my body is completely confuddled.

corn huskers lotion is really good for super dry skin. or sleeping with Vaseline and gloves (i cannot stand that, though; it makes me feel trapped).

shrug. hope that helps.

I gotta say..I get calf spasms like that when I've been dancing a lot. Have you been secretly dancing?? Massaging it out gently when it happens(that's what she said) then slowly stretching it in a lunge periodically throughout the next day usually takes care of it.
