I tend to surround myself with people that are more successful and qualified than I am. I don't know whether this is good because it challenges me to keep up or it's bad because it makes me feel like I'm not worth anything.

I think its good to surround yourself with people who are successful with what they "do" or atleast what they are intersted in. It not only challenges you to "keep up" as you say, but their success and knowledge can feed into your own success in your own endeavors. The main point to not letting yourself feel like you're not worth anything is to find what makes you unique and successful, focus on that, and then give back to them what they've given to you.

But what if you can't find "your thing"? What if it seems no matter what you try you always end up just average?

Then you aren't looking in the right places.

More successful than you? andyp November 10 2004, 13:21:51 UTC
I would venture to say that "more successful than you are" is a subjective assessment. I would venture to say that many of the people you think of as "more successful" would look at you and think the same thing for possibly different reasons.

Shaun, you are more successful and qualified than almost anyone I know, and you're actually a nice person. You have a lot going for you, so don't let yourself get down on you too hard.

So that you can mock them without them realizing it.
