Escaped assassins via the competent chef, rescued Franz's airship by walking across in mid-air, flirting with the journalist (being also of Haitian background), ignobly failed to deliver a message to Princess Victoria by falling out of a tree! And I'm turning out to be quite a Republican.
I'm so thrilled for this to come out, I'm a longstanding Choice of Games and Numinous World fan and have been looking forward to it since it was announced - congratulations to both of you!
I'm loving the writing so far, lots of nice rich detail and I'm hooked by the plot. I really like the nuances that are included in the choices, such as the reasons why you decide to ask for help from certain types of people - it fleshed out my main character's attitude and personality in ways I hadn't expected. Good luck for the full release, I can't wait!
We really tried to make the world and the NPCs fleshed out, to make it immersive rather than just choices. What kind of character did you choose and how was it working?
You've definitely made it feel immersive - it feels like when you make choices it's not just to increase stats, but also to explore the world and follow your feelings. My PC is quite serious and focused, very respectful of honest workers (he asked for help from the cook during the first chapter and is friendly with Gilles) but has a possibly-doomed crush on Alexandre which he confessed, and got Alexandre and Victoria to arrange a secret engagement. Tried to save the Gryphon from crashing and didn't manage it, but they liked me for trying! Going to try to talk my way out of the pirate situation once release day comes along. The PC feels like a real character with motivations, not just a way of getting the best results.
I also like how you can shape Alexandre's attitudes and approach - mine is very idealistic at the moment but who knows how that'll change for this playthrough! It all makes me keen to see how different playthroughs pan out once I've finished this one...
I'm so glad you're enjoying it and that it feels immersive. We really wanted it to be playable over and over, with different sets of choices leading to different outcomes.
What do you think now that you can play all the way through?
I wasn't sure if I would like it, even though I'd like some of the choose-your-adventure books as a youngster. I did like it! I wish you could back up one choice and choose another, although that would be cheating!
I went Marie-Ange for the opera, but Hippolyte for the race and had Alexandre and Victoria try to elope, and run from the pirates. Not too much flirting though, so my charm score was quite low.
I'm so glad you're enjoying it! you should restart yes, there was a bug that's fixed in the final version. I can't wait to hear how it played when you went all the way through!

That was great fun, and I can see there's a lot of other routes to take through even those three chapters. I look forward to more!
