We Were There!

You may have heard about some large, groundbreaking political rally a couple of nights ago at the Xcel Energy Center. My wife and I were lucky enough to attend. We were in the 19th row, behind "The Man" and to his left. Upwards of 19000 people were allowed in, while another 15000 were turned away ( Read more... )

I remember you posted a picture of your face just over his shoulder as well. It must have been marvelous to be that close.

I'd like to believe that sort of thing would not happen in either of our cities, but then reality rears its ugly head.

How do you that moving him won't make some sort of spinal injury worse and the accident victim sues you for everything you've got for trying to help? I'd be lying if that thought didn't enter my head. The driver should have stopped, of course.

I can see that. I'm just stunned (after re-reading the story) that the cops arrived on an unrelated call. That is rediculous and un-called for.

Unfortunately, in our society today the operative function is "Help someone if you think you won't get screwed over." And that's the real shame, here.

I was disappointed that I couldn't go to see him in Madison. Hopefully he'll come back.

...and not on a Tuesday or Thursday, either.

Wisconsin has more electoral votes than Minnesota. I'd say it's a fair bet that he'll show up there. Kerry went to Madison more than once in 2004, as I recall.

But will it not be on Tuesday or Thursday? Maybe I should write him...

If you write him with that request, it may behoove you to include some money.

People are always more likely to listen when Dollars are involved.

If I wasn't so averse to huge crowds, I would have gone. I drove past the Xcel on my way home that night and briefly thought about going. Then I continued home.

A few months ago, I signed up to volunteer for both Barack Obama's and Betty McCollum's campaigns. I've not heard from either yet.

I was told by Franken's people that sometimes a volunteer co-ordinator can get snowed under during a particularly hectic weekend, and if I don't hear anything in a week or so to call back.

If you're still interested, you should give a call back to those folks. A buddy of mine has said campaigns ALWAYS need more volunteers.
