My mom's dad died in 1934 when she was just six, and my dad's dad in 1965 when I was less than a year old. I've always felt that I missed out on something.
My mom's dad died in 1972, a couple of years before I was born. I got a semblance of what he was like when on a four hour car ride, mom and I did nothing but talk about him.
To be fair, if you mother was six when her father passed away, that may not be an option, but I'll bet you can talk to your dad.... if you haven't already.
I am sure you have a TON of stories about moms and dads no longer with us. This may seem obvious, but I hope you celebrate Grandparents Day with abandon.

My condolences.
As a note, 34 isn't bad. I was out of grandparents by the time I was 16.

Jocelyn has just started to ask about her grandparents. She sees so many friends who have them. But, she still has one!
