Unlike lots of people, I'm not going to Montreal for  AnticipationSF. The reasons are many  but the predominate two are money (lack of) an vacation time  (also lacking).  I remember throwing  a "we're not at Worldcon but we're having a good time anyway" picnic sort of thing back in '84.  I'm contemplating do something of the sort.   I''m also ( Read more... )

The funeral was Friday morning.  The girls got on the bus to head home Saturday night.  I stayed home today mostly to have a quiet day and unwind a bit more.  I'm not really sure what still needs to be done.  But tomorrow I go back to work, thus taking one more step towards finding normal.  No more waiting for the phone to ring and dreading it at ( Read more... )

Mom died today.  The viewing will be Thursday evening. The funeral will be Friday morning. Anyone wanting more details please contact me or the SO via email or phone.   

So far mom is still hanging on. I was there after work today for an hour or so. She was asleep for most of it.  I took tomorrow off, and am still tentatively planning to head up to NYC.  Friday I'm cleaning the kitchen if I'm at home.  There are so many things that I want to get to, but my concentration is mostly not here.  

My youngest is planning to drive down on the 3rd if her passport comes through in time.  She's paying for rush/emergency service or whatever the actual name is. The nurses at hospice seem to think it'll be sometime this week.  So any and all plans are now being thrown into the I'm playing everything by ear bin. Tomorrow I think I'm going to work. So last Thursday I went to work. I called the doctor's office because I wasn't feeling well. They phoned a prescription in for me. Friday I called out, because I felt awful again. So I rested all day Friday, felt a bit better Saturday but not enough. I was on mom duty all day Saturday. Sunday I was back to awful and last night I spent coughing. So ( Read more... )

So we got up this morning and headed out early. (Bus service here is abysmal.)   We got into town and had breakfast.  Then we caught the bus to Princeton Marketfair.  The Barnes and Noble  there was having an author event at 3.
