The Best Day of my life had fallen upon yesterday (August 3rd, 2009)...
The Beginning
I was first told to book civic holiday off very indiscreetly by a Foo. And then there was the ‘scare’ of me not able to book that shift off but it all ended up alright. Anywho, the day started off by Lily picking me up and then telling me to phone Leon to come downstairs. I was confused because I was so sure it was just a PBAJEL thing. Leon had done well in lying to me about knowing nothing and Kammy had no problem /not/ telling me anything. So after we picked him up, we picked Kammy up and we headed off to this unknown place. Betty phoned halfway through the ride and said she was at Willowdale. “Where the heck’s Willowdale?”, “Past Leslie…” “WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?! WHERE’RE WE GOING!?”. I have to admit, I was a bit uneasy not knowing where I was heading but maybe that was the excitement. ^^ Anyway, once we got to Yonge street, Lily told me to blindfold myself, so I closed my eyes obediently. Carefully, I was led to a seat somewhere. The clues around told me that there were a bunch of kids, animals and bleachers but I couldn’t figure out what it was. I thought it was a carnival with a petting zoo at first but bleachers threw me off. And then I opened my eyes to a CIRCUSSSSSSSS! Holy crap.
MMMs from the Beginning:
- Finally finding someone to take my shift
- Pat asking me whether I wanted 2 3-hour sessions or 1 6-hour session XD
- Finding out that it wasn’t just PBAJEL
- Picking up Kammy and all of us staring at his dad but not saying hello
- Leon saying I was taking a dump so I was late >_>
- Lily guiding me to an unknown place and then me obediently closing my eyes
The Circus Part
Oh man, everything was great except the old guys talking at the beginning. There was the lion dance, the “Gonzales” family (Young guy who did triple somersault, yah!), the impressive animal training (Horses, poodles and elephants!), the juggling guys, the trapeze guy who definitely provided the wow factor when did those dangerous moves (I kept shrieking beside Pat…=P), the Asians through the rings (What else would I call them? XD) the Asians on the two poles, the Asians on the swing thing at the top, the girls doing the ribbon ropes and hanging by their necks (owww….T_T) and of course, the elephant rides that Pat and I attempted to go on but couldn’t cause it was EXPENSIVE. And there was a huge line. Oh. And I got to eat a snowcone, teehee. And cotton candy, and popcorn. And I got to glimpse a $3 water bottle. Crazy. XD And then we walked through the mall to find our way to the cars. By the way, I knew you guys went to A Buck or Two while I was reading my program. You must know that Edmond’s not a good liar. “Did the go to A Buck or Two?” “…*shakes head and blocks my view of A Buck or Two” “Uh huh.” =P
MMM from Circus:
- When I opened my eyes to a crowd of people and a circus ring
- The Asians and how I said they must’ve been Olympian rejects and Pat telling me I was pessimistic
- The bleachers and how both Anita and Leon came to the conclusion that people could look up our skirts
- How Betty Foo was trying to disassemble the circus one bleacher at a time
- How I was convinced to go on the elephant ride (even though I didn’t actually do it)
- Me telling Pat off on her dreams of owning horses =P
- Leon swearing really loudly in the midst of all the kids when the trapeze guy looked like he was gonna fall
- Having the pole in front of us and Pat saying the ribbon rope dancers were in the perfect place between the poles XD
- Kammy imitating how Leon walks and saying it hurts his back.
The Pictures Part
So we head to Pmall and after a short time, we find a parking spot. I don’t know what happened, but one second, I was saying I needed to check out cell phone stores, and then the next, PBAEL was gone and all Kammy could tell me was that they went to wash their faces O_O O…kay? BUT I THOUGHT WE WERE DEALING WITH MY CELL PHONE! XD So Kammy decided to get some bubble tea and being the gentleman that he was, he bought me my drink. PBAEL finally came back to meet up with us (I never really figured out where you guys went, did you actually go to wash your faces?) and we stood around the corridors of the mall and just chatted for a while. Then we went to take sticker pictures/cards. I was a bit surprised when the guys agreed to do it too but of course, that made me happy because I want everyone in the picture. After the extensive frame picking and frantically calling the boys back because Lils had to leave, we finally squished into the Number 2 booth and took pictures. =P And then we left to pick up Anney (sp?!)

- Lils “accidentally” honking her horn while fixing her bangles
- Lils finding 3 parking spots right after Leon saying “You’ll never find one at Pmall on a civic holiday” ZING! =P
- Trying to figure out where the diamonds were in our drinks XD
- Me thinking it was a weekend and trying to tell David off about Anita’s phone
- Leon saying Kam could unlock my phone and that I should just go chat him up and invite him to dinner
- Squishing 9 people into a sticker booth and having it WORK! So happy. ^^
- Telling Edmond he couldn’t leave because it was a PBAJEL picture XD
- The lady at the Bubble tea place calling out “Peeeeach~ Peaaaaaaach” 3 times before Anita goes to get her drink. And then Leon saying “What drink did you get?” XD
- David and Kammy talking about Ninja Turtles
The Lils’ House Part
So Lils, Kammy, Leon and I left in Lily’s car to pick up Anney and go back to Lils’ house. Once we got there, I greeted Dickson and then we plopped down on the couches and attempted to watch tv. Unfortunately, the boys did not know how to operate the remote controls so we couldn’t =P Lils offered us watermelon s we muched away on it. Lils’ mom came back and Leon charmed his way through with his supposed awesome Chinese. =P Kammy asked what the other group was doing and Leon answered with “They’re getting the pictures!” “It takes them this long? I’m pretty sure they’re done…” “Then they must analyze them!” Me: “I don’t think so…” I guess Leon knew more than Kammy did about the next part of the day. So once again, I was blindfolded (this time, literally) and I was shoved into the car. Literally shoved. XD “Where’re we now, Joanne?! HRM!?” “….McCowan?”.
MMM from Lils’ House:
- Leon asking Lils whether Anney was hot
- Being squished with Kammy and Leon in the backseat and having to move forward because not all three of our broad shoulders could’ve fit horizontally side by side XD
- Watching TVO kids… “Coming *beatbox*…Going…*beatbox*…Coming…*beatbox*…Going, etc”
- Attempting to play CS with Dickson’s account but dying twice before I could even figure out how to walk properly in the game XD
- Kammy saying Lils’ house was “more longer” than his house.
- Being blindfolded and then Leon yanking me down the steps and then shoving me into the car like I was actually being kidnapped.
- Lily asking whether I was peeking while we were in the car and the boys saying I was obediently sitting quietly.
The Best Part
Once we got to our destination, Lils told the boys to get out of the car cause she needed to find a parking space. She had to yell at them for leaving me in the car cause apparently, they were supposed to take me with them. I seriously had no idea where I was. There were so many twists and turns and I had stopped keeping track of where we were once we were on McCowan. XD And when I got out, they suddenly tell me there’re steps and that Leon had to piggyback ride me up the steps. I adamantly say no because one, I was wearing a dress, two, I’m /heavier/ than Leon, three, I didn’t see a problem with me walking up the steps slowly by myself. In the end, I was peer pressured into going on his back and through the awkwardness of it all because my legs couldn’t open wide enough with the dress and me being reluctant on going on his back, we made it to wherever we were supposed to be. I opened my eyes and I found myself in Anita’s living room and a bunch of people standing there <3. But I couldn’t see who was there because my glasses were off from the blindfold. So after fishing around for my glasses, I see EVERYONE. So happy. ^^ There was Ben, my twin from high school. Minh, my closest friend in RDL. Leo, one of my closest friends outside of PBAJEL from high school. John, my partner in crime from SCF. David, one of the nicest and funniest guys I’ve met. Kammy, the most laid back and accepting person ever. Leon, arrogant and unpredictable but still one of my closest friends. And of course, PBAEL. <3 I didn’t know what to say at first because it was so shocking and I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do, hug everyone and hang out with everyone or were there things planned. But then limbo was initiated and it was all good. ^^
MMM from Opening My Eyes:
- Me guessing we were on Denison and Leon saying we weren’t. Then Lils saying something like “What if I want her to think we’re on Denison!?” Leon: “Okay, we’re on Denison. Good guess, Joanne.”
- Piggyback ride on Leon was crazy. XD “Hold on to my neck, Joanne. STRANGLE IT!” Ahahahaha XD My sandals falling off. Lils claiming she was trying to catch my bum.
- Seeing everyone there was…priceless. Putting on my glasses and going nuts over who was there.
- Those that care the most about me showed up and I love everyone for that. <3
The Limbo Part
Leo and Pat ended up being the ones who held the streamers and at the beginning, the short people could just tilt their head back. (Me, Betty, Minh, John) but it got lower and people were getting kicked out one by one. Minh was a monster at it. His toes were…curled? I don’t know. XD But he was really good at it. So obviously, he won. Poor Kammy, first one out because of his height.
MMM from Limbo:
- When I said I was wearing a dress and people would see if I opened my legs for the limbo and then pointing out the fact that Anita’s FILMING it as well
- Kammy making a run for it for the limbo cause speed apparently helps. XD
- Everyone cheering for everyone else. Hehe ^^
The Meal Part
So after the exercise, we sat down outside and got ready for the meal. It was pretty windy so we put the candles on our plates to stop it from flying away. Minh had a family dinner afterwards so he didn’t eat anything. =( So we started off with a Caesar salad and as we ate, I reminisced with Ben about us singing Disney songs during Kearney and singing “My Heart Will Go On” during tree-planting. (It’s our song. =P). Then we had garlic bread and Minh had a slice of that so I guess that’s something. I felt a little isolated with the other side of the table cause I was talking to just Ben, Minh and PBAJEL but I think they got along alright on the other side. But…halfway through the meal, I went and pulled Leo aside so I could have a talk with him too and we went into the guest room and just chatted about how he got to come to the party and what kind of info he got when he came. Pat then came and got us saying we were suspiciously alone in the room. XD David brought the lasagna out and it was sooooo gooooood. The food tastes better when you’re surrounded by friends. Hehe. ^^ Unfortunately, at this time Minh had to go so we had a big hug before he left. (THANKS FOR COMING! <3) I finished the deliciousness that was on my plate and I was then offered some liquor. LYCHEE. I really thought it would taste good. The lychee. But I was wrong T_T It hurts my throat and it smells bad and my nasal cavity burns. ANYWHO, that was the meal. So we cleaned up afterwards and after cleaning up, I sat on the couch with Kammy in the upstairs living room and I told him I was really happy. His response was “Wow. You’re drunk. You’re usually pretty happy, but now you’re twice as happy.” Well yeah! Cause I feel so loved~ Not because I was drunk. Silly boy. =P Betty then got us to go downstairs for a game of CHARADES!
MMM from Meal:
- Minh giving me my birthday present and the message he wrote in my card
- When Ben scolded Pat for having leftover meat on her plate and then him scraping it all off to eat it >_>
- The bee hovering over David’s plate and not landing and then landing on John’s plate the moment it gets there
- Ben and Betty playing Name That Tune
- David saying Edmond is oblivious to things around him (the lasagna =P)
- Ben trying to feed the bee a crouton. XD
- Minh and I having a talk as I led him to the door.
- David tossing the 4x4 Rubik’s Cube really quickly in his hands and saying he’s solving it XD
The Charades Part
So we stood around in a circle and numbered off into our groups. At first, I guess we were gonna play the Super Trio way which was to describe the word in Chinese but then the groups were so unfair in Chinese ability that we had to ix-nay that idea. XD Teams were: 1) Ben, Betty, Leo, Kammy, John, Lily 2) Pat, Edmond, Anita, David, Leon and me. Anywho, here’re the people and their words:
Pat: Patch (point)
Lily: Hijack (point)
Leon: Casino (point)
John: Gargoyle (point)
Joanne: Income (no point)
Leo: Edit (no point)
Edmond: Fascinate (no point)
Kammy: Dynasty (no point)

Ben: Kiwi (no point)
And the game ended in a tie because we got a little evil in the middle. XD
MMM from Charades:
- Leon saying that the word casino has 2 syllables
- Kammy making crazy epic sword moves for the word dynasty XD
- Everyone jumping in to help Ben with his word. Key. Wii. And Leo getting it…somewhat…“Something with wii and something with key? Wii? Key!? WII KEY!?”
The Truth And Dare Part
This was probably the most interesting part of the night. Having us split into pairs with preset questions and then if you don’t do the truth/dare that you pick out, your partner receives punishment and they don’t even get a say in it. I’m sure many of the questions were made with Leon and I in mind and I…thank you guys for that but it was…PRETTY EMBARASSING! O_O It was a good kind of embarrassing though but I apologize for those that were dying inside when they had to their truths or dares. I’ll go around the circle starting on my right side. Lils, if you didn’t wanna do the ones you wrote, don’t write ‘em! XD Figures you’d have to suffer from all of your own. John, I’m sorry Lil wrote those and you had to be the unlucky one that picked it. If it was anyone else, it wouldn’t have been as torturous. Kammy, your song was great, thanks. XD I know it was hard to sing about my “assets” when all you could think about was my bike. Ben, it scares me how ready you are to eat ABC food. XD Leo, you were the first to eat the wasabi but you survived and you got your revenge, although it would’ve been interesting if you actually did your dare. =P David, you had to give Anita up to Ben that night so I’m sorry you had to watch that. And I understand completely why you didn’t want to serenade me. Anita, I was so sure you would pick David but you ended up picking up Pat and that just shows me you are the originator of chicks before _____s. <3 Pat, your dares are so extreme, everyone ends up not doing yours. But you did your own, good job. Too bad no one was on the other line. Haha~ ^^ Edmond, you got off pretty easy with your picks (like me) and…Ben Affleck? Really? =P Leon, I know it was hard for you to do that truth and I still can’t believe you were able to do that in public. I was very touched. Thank you. Betty Foo. Your bachelorette commercial was spot on until you got to the part where you said I’ve named all my kids (in bed). Because I haven’t yet (in bed). And I would’ve liked to see Ben in a skirt (in bed). But you made it impossible (in bed). XD Lils has the questions and people who did each one, so I’m looking forward to seeing those again and reliving each truth and each dare. XD
MMM from Truth And Dare:
- John smacking Lils on the bum with the most embarrassing look on his face
- Lils running away screaming when she finds out John’s next one was him asking her to spank him. Poor John…
- David’s caterpillar punishment
- Leon eating the dog treat like it’s nothing and then gagging after a few chews
- My sister saying, “Who is this? … Oh god” and then hanging up from Lily’s pikachu whines XD
- David not being allowed to sing me the love song and Leo’s look of horror
- Leon fumbling with his paper when telling me how he felt about me
- David claiming the wasabi pain came in waves XD
- The rock paper scissors part where Leon got a piece of paper specifically made for him and I don’t know what it is >_>
- My slow dance with Lils in comparison with Anita’s slow dance with Ben.
- Pat’s monstrous ability and strength to carry Leo around the room.
The Birthday Cake Part
After the Truth and Dare, we kind of all stood around until someone mentioned that we still had candles to light outside! So about four of us went outside to attempt lighting candles but alas, it was futile. Then everyone came out and we all occupied a seat comfortably. I was told to close my eyes once more for the cake and when I opened my eyes again, there were cute little cupcakes that said “Happy 20th Joanne” on it and I made my wish and blew out the candles. *applause* And then we talked about my favourite part and questions that I wanted answered. I didn’t really have any questions right away at the time, but I’m sure I’ll get some in time. =P It was just a cozy moment, all of us outside at night and having a talk.
MMM from Birthday Cake:
- Leon saying “Your life is gone” when all the candles went out >_>
- “She still has her eyes closed?!”
- People picking cupcakes. (Chocolate? Vanilla? How much is there?) O for Outstanding! Or Oaf. =P Etc.
The Departure
After the cake, we cleaned up outside and all headed inside to help clean up. Betty had to leave so I sent her off and we had a long hug. <3 When I got back to the living room, I see Leon, David and Kammy trying to pop balloons by doing…group…hugs? I don’t know. =P It didn’t work. Edmond showed ‘em all up with a pen. XD Then someone started discussing funds and Pat told me not to listen so I went into the guestroom and hugged a pillow, rethinking the whole day’s event and just smiling with myself. I know, it’s kinda freaky. XD After a while, Kammy came in and asked me what I was doing and whether I was trying to “act cool” so I answered with “Really. You think I can pull cool off?” “No.” XD So then he sat down and we started chatting. Pat had to be sneaky and close the door. *shakes head* Oh Pat. And then it made it look like we were doing something suspicious. Then she joined us for the chat but we didn’t get much talk done because Leo streamed in as well so we all just left the room. After giving Anita a big hug, we all left and John surprised me by saying he had my present in his trunk. O_O Wow. Thanks John for the whole set of Yoshis…you’re very thoughtful. ^^ And then I said goodbye to Ben and Leo, knowing I wouldn’t be seeing them soon but…I’m happy that we’re still such good friends after 2 years of not spending time together. Then I got into the car with Lils, Kammy and Leon and waved goodbye to Pat. Leon gave me his present and told me how proud he was of his wrapping. During the ride, I had my hands clasped together and Leon asks “What’re you doing? Making a wish or something?” and Lils goes “Are her hands together? Yeah, she does that when she’s happy. She was doing that with her bubble tea today at Pmall too.” Kammy: “So she has to hold her hands together to contain her happiness?” XD I didn’t even know I did that. You guys know me better than I know me. So we dropped Kammy off, then Leon and then Lils took me home.
MMM from Departure:
- David hurting from Leon’s ‘bear hug’
- Pat opening the door and saying she could only see legs. (Mine and Kammy’s)
- John opening his trunk and me looking at all the junk…in his trunk. Hoho. Apparently, they were his car tires? O_O I don’t know. XD
- Lils telling Pat to go back and get funds from Leo and Ben
- Saying good night and thank you to everyone.
CONCLUSION: Best day of my life so far. And I don’t think it can be topped. XD I was so giddy when I got home. Non-stop smiling. I even woke up this morning smiling. The moment I woke up, I remembered yesterday and I just had this huge smile plastered to my face. And then I knew I had to type it all up to remember it all.
