I was just over on MTS and gazaniaminor-latin;mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi"> posted a thread about how she recently switched to another  multi PT pack and then she noticed that the parent of her new alien was NOT "PTAlien", but an actual name with a PT1, 2 designation, as in "JohnSmithPT1".  Mootilda ( Read more... )

I think you are safe so long as you leave in the character files from the original multi-PT. So like you can remove the hack part but leave in the characters so sims born from them don't lose their data. That's what I have done in the past anyway and my game seems to be fine.

I don't use a multi pack myself Pen, I was just part of the discussion over on MTS as I asked about my default PT.

It sounds like you removed the correct part. :) Apparently some creators mention this but others don't which is why I'm posting the warning. It's getting a fair bit of discussion over on MTS.

It's good this gets attention. I have made the mistake in earlier neighborhoods, and the family tree indeed gets corrupted when you remove those sims from your DL-folder. So I suspect this definitely should have a place in the terribly long "don't-do-this-list". However, like others said you can safely delete the mod itself (BHAV) in order to switch Multi PT hacks, but NOT the PTs themselfes (OBJD). It's also worth to consider that once you open any neighborhood, the PTs will automaticly get added to that 'hood, regardless of whether you have any alien abductions there.

I think it would be an easy mistake for someone to make if the set they downloaded didn't explain or give any kind of warning.
Also Moo said multi plantsims are the same deal. Again nothing I have ever used but I think it's worth getting a warning out about it.

Yeah, I was wondering what was going on in that thread. Even though I don't plan to ever remove my multi-PT hack, it's good to know what I should do if I ever did.

This includes multi plantsim packs and any download that adds a NPC to your hood including animals or human type statues or even things based of the remote control car. I have downloaded and deleted quite a few so all of my hoods would be corrupted. I'm just hoping it will all limp along for another generation before I have to rebuild again.
