this was much more rambly and long winded than i'd intended, so i divided it into cuts by day...
thursday, i was pretty stressed that i'd miss my bus out of town (work til 5.30 at the mall, bus out of downtown at 6.15, and i still had to pack...). i was incredibly lucky, though, and dan drove me from the mall to home. i was sooo greatful!
so thursday night, we went to the beer garden on the esplanade in toronto, and i had some belgian beer that i love. i want more! we also went to casey's for actual food (eating at the beer garden was kind of out of question due to prices), and my salad was amazing. as was my "drive by fruiting" drink. :)
the joel plaskett concert was QUITE good. we missed the opener, which sucks, because we saw his last song or so, and he was really good. but that's ok. joel plaskett was very good, though. he played a lot of my favourites (true patriot love, THE LIGHT OF THE MOON, extraordinary... it was amazing). the people in front of us were absolute tools, though, but we'll try to forget about that. excitingly, PETER ELKAS (my future husband) was playing backup guitar and piano for joel plaskett. this was very exciting as it was a total surprise to me, and i fan girled because he looked very good, and incredibly happy to be there. and played wonderfully. and ian mcgettigan came out to play bass (and then cowbell!) during the encore, which was also exciting because of the thrush hermit history... and dave ulrich (ex the inbreds) was drummer. it felt like a reunion of sorts :P
we ended up having to take the subway home because we have purposefully missed the last go train out of town (how could we walk out on such a GREAT show??? ...and the elkas :P).
friday i watched "the family stone," and it was a pretty bad movie, but that's ok. in the evening we watched "match point," some woody allen movie that my older sister really liked, but i hated. it was just so slow.
saturday i ended up going shopping with my twin and her boyfriend while my dad and older sister went car shopping. the plan is to either get her a used car of some sort, or my dad will get something like a used mercedes benz (no joke, wow...), and she will get his toyota camry, which is gorgeous and in great condition. no surprises that i'm voting for getting a mercedes :P
while shopping, i got a new shirt that covers things pretty well, while accenting my rack. i like :P i also got a happy meal with this awesome monkey toy. he's a beach bum! and he's so rad! he's my new buddy :) i also got a kinder toy with this cool jumping grasshopper and socks. i was very happy. then we got a bunch of random international beers. i introduced my mom to harp, and she seemed to love it!
for dinner we had steak (!!!!) and some sort of really really good fish. i ate way too fucking much :P it was great. i also watched the first half of nip/tuck that day. it's such a funny show (except for when it's really heavily dramatic :P). and i tried this beer from prague. it was ok.
sunday was the day for my twin's boyfriend's parents to come over for dinner. scary! it was their first time over for dinner. we got more international beers, but didn't share them with the guests because of all the wines and stuff :P the food was great, and the conversation was, too, for the most part. except for the fact that it was super boring. and i felt really stupid being the only one at dinner who didn't drink wine, but i absolutely hate my parents' wines. they like really strong flavours.
after they left, i tried 'kingfisher', this beer from india. actual india. wow. when i went to let my dad try, he started arguing that it was actually an indian pale ale, and that it was from england. i had to bring the bottle over (we have really nice pint glasses), and let him read the bottle. once he finally looked at the place of production, and named some city in india whose name i cannot reproduce, he agreed that it was no longer made in england :P
monday we had to get up to leave the house at 6.45/7am to get my dad to work and me to guelph. the ride was interesting. there was a ttc strike, so we listened to news about it for an hour. i don't even know if it's still on, or what the deal is, now that i'm back in my guelph bubble. my sisters and i went for brunch at molly bloom's, and then glasses shopping. my twin got the pair that she'd been wanting, and my older sister got basically the pair i'd predicted she'd get when i was daydreaming about what shape, size, and type she'd like... i didn't even realize this pair existed. creepy.
then it was time to meet up with collen, whom i hadn't seen in over a year. it was good to catch up over second cup drinks and then go back home... yeah, it took us less than an hour, heh.
in the evening i had derek over, and it was really good to just sit around and chat and stuff. i didn't get enough sleep that night, though, because of the heat, and then hearing all the traffic through the window. it was irritating. and i was VERY pissy all day. then i got back my bloodwork results and can officially announce to the world that i'm perfectly clean. then i had to meet up with my sisters to give them their glasses (they insisted that i make them :P).
yesterday evening i had a lovely nap, wendy's for dinner, then went to the albion to watch my coworker do standup, but i guess he chickened out again. today i got to sleep in, and it was amazing.
