when i was younger, i looked up to people, and now that im older and not-so-much wiser, i no longer really look up to people perse, but i guess i now admire people. and a quality ive admired a lot lately is independence. yes, ive grown a lot more independent during my years in taiwan, but its a different kind of independence. i was simply able be ( Read more... )

no worries, its a work in progress. i dont think im very independent myself considering i go home almost every weekend. bout the whole lack of bills thing, its called being blessed, just appreciate it.

i feel the same way about not being independent enough. i know some people who have to pay for their own college tuition! we're so lucky.

i totally agree. i think college was an eye-opening experience, in that i met people just like you did who worked multiple jobs just to stay in college. they were there because they worked hard to be there, and continued to work their butts off, harder than i will ever understand, to stay in school. when i was at my work study job for america reads, all of my coworkers paid their own way through college. it's really humbling...
