TL;DR will disappear again, have some kitties

Feb 22, 2011 22:06

Yeah, I disappeared for a while. I do that sometimes. :)

So here's an obligatory kitteh post. Everyone has to post pictures of their kittehs on the Internet, it's like the fuzzy adorable version of Godwin's Law. (Especially if you are in possession of a Kitler.)

The shelter told me these two are sisters, but they look about as different as two silver Egyptian maus can look (which is not very different at all). As elderly cats, Tsukineko and Mooncat like to pose, cuddle, and nap. Tsukineko likes to survey her territory, act tsundere, and use my computer to look at shotacon. (You think I'm kidding....) Mooncat can be counted on to join in whenever someone nearby begins to sing.

Lucia Della Luna (Lucy for sanity) is old as well, but acts more like you'd expect a mau to, running around and exploring and begging humans for attention. I found her nesting on my new air mattress purchased for an upcoming trip, but when I got my camera, she immediately had to sit up and stare at it. She gets along as well with the other two as they get along with each other--they cuddle, they fight, and they cuddle some more. Lucy spends a lot more time awake than they do, though.

All right, all right, enough cute fluffies.
Little has happened in my life as of late. Looking back on this year so far, actually, I can remember little other than staying up late to play those little Professor Layton slidey puzzles. (YOU ARE A PUZZLE GAME NOT AN ANIME OH GOD WHY ARE YOU MAKING ME CRY STOP IT STOP IT OH CLAAAAAAAAIRE!!) But now, actually, there is news--news that coincides with me making another disappearance.

Most of my friends here, and all of the ones who actually talk to me anymore, don't know anything about my family, so I'll fill you in on what's relevant now. 16 months ago, my uncle Bob died of lung cancer, survived only by his eldest brother, who is my dad. Like my dad, Bob was both a genius and a hoarder. I barely knew Uncle Bob, but attending his funeral gave me a chance to learn more about him; on reading some of his poetry, I was surprised to see how similar his writing style was to mine.

It's now up to my family what we do with the house Bob lived in, plus a small vacation shack we used to rent out. Both are beautiful properties with houses that are falling apart, but Bob's house is a mess--not junk, not for the most part, but an incredible collection of historical books and objects and old family possessions. My dad's gotten some of this taken care of already, but the job's going too slowly, so while I'm on vacation from work I'm going to supervise and help him.

So, leaving either tomorrow or Thursday, my father and I will make the day-long trip to my uncle's old house in hopes of sorting and cleaning up things left behind. We'll be away a good two weeks, and unless I'm taking a break in a local cafe or leeching off a neighbor's network, I will be offline the whole time.

What's really been keeping me up at night, however...

SNIVY OR OSHAWOTT??

Sorry, Tepig. I adore you, but you're just not as cool as the other two. Naturally I fell in love with Snivy at first sight--that is one badass little snake, a smug little bastard with LEGS! But Oshawott is growing on me. It's ridiculously cute, especially when it opens its little mouth and shows its fangs, plus it can play Xena with its armor shell and its later evos are flipping amazing.

Whichever one of them gets the rose, the combination of Reshiram's fluffy wings and Cheren's tight pants glasses ahoge moeness have made me terribly impatient about Black and White.

PLUS PLUS: Read my rant here if you care to read my response to the endings of Tsubasa and xxxHoLic. I was just chattering away with OJ and inadvertently berserk button'd.

manga, pokemon, clamp, life, xxxholic, tsubasa, kitties, place the blame squarely on tight pants
