So, as I had half figured, there was a catch with the house yesterday. It was way to reasonably priced for what was offered. Turns out it was a uber short term rental. 2 to 6 months, only while the owner was recuperating from a slight stroke down in Mexico. And under orders not to travel. Too bad, it was a great house. I'm guessing you got that place either around the mid-90s or early 2000s, when the rental market was pretty easy. I tried them before during the late 90s during the dotcom boom and it was pretty much wasted money...every place they recommended to me they never bothered to find out if it was already taken, and none of the ones I looked at were EVER available. I abandoned them after a month and eventually found my own place through a work connection.

We got that place in 1990. Oh well, too bad their service isn't good any longer, they were definitely helpful for us. Please consider the suggestion retracted. ;-)

I can check with my old landlord to see if he knows of anyone with properties down that way if you want. Sometimes just driving around can work too in the area you want, that is how we found the HODO. But I have to say craigslist is the best. Oh you can try real estate office too, look under real estate rentals on yelp or something like that. They are doing it much more now since they can't sell them.
