Who: Jenda
Where: Beach date!
October just wasn't going the way that I wanted it to go. Joe and I had been apart for couple of weeks during this month instead of getting the month to ourselves. It was understandable because I ended up having to work too but now it was time for us to just spend some time reconnecting and just being ourselves. That's why I thought it was a good idea to go out on a date together. We always had fun on dates and it had been awhile since we had gone on one and even longer since I had been the one to plan the actual date.
I went about the day getting ready and trying to plan a menu for the date. Since I was pregnant, I couldn't have the standard sandwich that I normally would fix. I dug through the fridge and finally decided to make a big cobb salad with homemade garlic pita chips. I sent Joe out of the house for the afternoon so I could get things ready without his help. After I got the chicken and bacon cooking, I went to the freezer and pulled out the chocolate silk pie that I had made earlier that day. It could thaw while we went to the beach and ate dinner and it would also keep the dressing for the salad cool.
I had to dress in a big, flowy maxi dress to cover my ever growing baby bump. It wasn't exactly beach attire but we weren't going to be swimming or anything like that and we definitely weren't ready to tell the world about our little Jackson. I pulled out one of my black ones and slipped it on before stepping into some flip flops. Then I braided my hair into one long braid and added a floppy black hat and some sunglasses. After I was finished, I went downstairs and packed up my huge picnic basket that I had bought not too long ago. I put in plates and forks and a bottle of sparkling white grape juice with some fancy champagne glasses. I made sure to put the pie into a different container and then packed the rest of the food around it so it could keep things cool. After rearranging everything for the fifth time and making sure everything was perfect, Joe came strolling in from his errands run and I smiled at him as I leaned up and gave him a little kiss. "Are you ready to go to the beach?," I asked as I walked over to the hall closet and pulled out one of my little sweaters. Joe said he was and he picked up the picnic basket for me while I put the dogs up. I came back and smiled at him as we walked out to the car together and headed for the beach.
