The weather has been so fine today that it's a great shame that the clocks went back last night, meaning that darkness has descended so early. My friend from Edinburgh had to come south, for a funeral, yesterday, so he stayed with me last night. This morning we had a very pleasant walk along the prom and a late, leisurely breakfast al fresco. It's

It was so horrible that it got dark so early. :-( But it sounds like you had a lovely day!

Yes we did. He e-mailed me on Monday to say, inter alia, that he was a bit sunburnt.

It was dark at 5pm.... soooooo depressing!

Isn't it? The thought that it's going to get darker earlier and earlie for the next six weeks is more depressing still.
