Notice how the same person is presented as being female in one shot, male in another, and proably the same person.

I also suggest checking out part three of the same episode in both versions:

The English dubbed version features the regular Sailtor Scouts showing dissapointment at the realization that the new scout is, in fact, a girl. In fact, the new scout says "sorry to burst your bubble" about it.

The Japanese version features the sailor scouts showing surprise, but not distaste.
"A girl!?"
"I never said I was a guy."
And then some comment about how Serena knew that a female scout would be better all along (not that she knew, or suspected, or preferred, but that Serena, in her awkward, always wrong but always covering her butt kind of way is admitting her mistake and saying it is definitely okay).

Anyways, they're just so different.

Also, Sailor moon is clearly in grade nine, while Tuxedo mask (her boyfriend, as of season three) is in college. ????
